Mike McDaniel is responsible for firing Mike McDaniel. His record speaks for itself.
And, McDaniel started his own firing process on his first day in Miami when he accepted a job for which he had absolutely zero experience and refused to hire anyone with experience to help and or tutor him with playcalling and game management.

I would say all the above.
This. Ross was likely on the fence about giving MM another year. He then brings in an outside voice in Aikman, who probably advises him to move on (given his public comments during that broadcast). Then you get a series of GM candidates who may have expressed reservations about working with MM. Then Harbaugh gets fired, so there’s now a white whale out there for Ross to chase. All of these circumstances contributed to MM’s firing, in my opinion.

I think all of the above. Aikman probably initiated the firing when Ross asked for his opinion. Hell, Aikman wanted McDumbass fired during the Steelers game. You could clearly tell that Aikman was frustrated with the NO 2 min offense.

Thank you. You can come to my house and **** 1 of my 3 sisters.

Alexander took the job and told them only with Harbaugh, they dictated that McDaniel be gone. And this is my reason they are coming. TAXES! Florida is the bomb when it comes to income taxes, espcially at their salaries. That's my prediction. The other reason, is they will have run of the entire show, Ross is totally hands off. Please let this be true.

Definitely all Harbaugh.

Just look at the timeline. McD escaped Black Monday with his job. Tuesday, they announce he will be involved in the GM search. Wednesday Harbaugh gets fired and rumors say that he wont consider jobs for teams that currently have a head coach. Thursday McD is gone.

Pretty simple.

Ross's plan was to stick with McD for one more season, then cut bait. Ross knows he cant attract a top coach with our cap situation this year. Harbaugh changed all that...

Word I heard was Ross was uncomfortable with the Tuesday conversation with McG about the remedies for the team from the Goober. I'm sure Harbaugh becoming available helped move the decision along. I am also reasonably sure that interviewed candidates for the GM position had 'reservations' about being tied to this 'Coach'.

Its my turn to take a page out of this book....

We did this becuase WE ARE GETTING HARBAUGH!!!!

Behind the scenes its already done, were getting a Chad as a GM, so by name alone hes already smarter than any GM weve ever had and Harbaugh is already working on his staff with Chad, whos relaying messages to the search committee.

Its already done, we have our coach for the next decade or two and we WILL BECOME A PERENNIAL PLAYOFF TEAM SOON!!!
Man not even a honorable mention for the illustrations

I agree with this.

It seemed like Ross was looking at every reason to keep McD when everything else said he had to go. He seems to like him and want to give him one more shot. But since then, there's been discussions with GM candidates. There's been consulting with Aikman, who criticized McD during a broadcast. Now there's 2 NFL award winning coaches available. There's a Harbaugh, so we know that draw (also SB champ and NFL coach of the year in 2019)....and he's also worked directly with one of the GM candidates (Chad Alexander). There's Kevin Stefanski (2-time NFL coach of the year 2020 and 2023). If you do not want to take a chance on a 1st time coach again and the feedback from others hasn't been high on McD, it was enough to tip the scales against McD and lead to the firing.

IMO, it is a very tough selling point to a potential GM that he can't pick the HC he's going to be linked to. It's like telling a HC he can't pick his coordinators. You need guys who are on the same page, with the same vision/blueprint. Grier had no blueprint and it showed.
