I’ve done some soul searching on this front. With an off-season of rest and a helmet change Tua can be the starter. However, we need to go get the best backup out there to make sure that if/when Tua goes down, we can still execute our offense at near the same level as possible. Who is that backup?

Tom Cruise What GIF

I have no idea but our needs list keeps on growing. OL,RB,TE,ILB,CB,S and of course we have only 5 picks and not much money. I doubt they'll go looking for the best backup QB with the limited resources we have.

That would be idiotic. Backup qb should be atop the list. We have a qb made of fall leaves. None of it matters if the guy behind Tua can’t get us in the end zone.

I get that having a good backup QB is important .....just saying the limited resources might not allowed it. At the end of the day, we're seeing backup QB's for other teams winning games because those teams are carrying the QB instead of the backup QB carrying the team.

I am afraid…not a brady fan…that brady woukd come here for one year…somewhat cheap…with extras like future options for part ownership etc.
the brady angle is something to watch
house here, kids in school here etc

The problem isn’t the back-up quarterback. Bridgewater and Brissett are two of the best back-ups in the league. Tua is just really good, much as some people can’t accept that, and no backup is going to give us what he gives us.

Winning with a backup quarterback is about your running game and defense, not your backup quarterback. Cooper Rush went 4-1 for the Cowboys this season. He threw for 5 TDs in those 5 games and never cracked 240 yards passing. In one of the wins, he threw for 102 yards. Cooper Rush stinks. The rest of the team was just good enough to win with a mediocre, backup quarterback.

Skylar Thompson, after he helps us beat the Bills tomorrow.

agree......also, this offense is totally set up for what Tua does best and those are not the things that Teddy and Skylar do best so it's not easy for them.....on top of that Armstead never seems to play when Tua is out. Tomorrow we'll be missing our top RB too.

Yeah I don’t understand this proposition.

If Tua is healthy he’s better than Brady. So if you bring in Brady for “one year”, where’s Tua going? He’s not going to back up nor should he. And if you trade him who’s the QB in a year or two?

Just don’t get the Brady rumor.

Fin-Loco So happy you’ve come back to your senses! I’m gonna throw this out there and I think it’s only fair… Bridgewater is gone no doubt about it and I think Skylar Thompson has the opportunity now to prove that he should be the back up next year-Least we can do is make that determination after Sunday’s game… Fair?
