There were several problems that the Dolphins had last night and most of them were on the defense obviously. The one major and overlooked problem for the team from last nights and one that they failed to address during the offseason is the lack of having a gamebreaking player. Ronnie and Ricky are both solid backs and can grind it out. Pennington is a very efficient QB, but there is no elite player. There is no WR that can strike fear into the hearts of defenses. When it came down to the last drive and Miami having to move the ball 82 yards in 3 minutes just wasn't going to happen. They don't have the tools to play thay way. They grind it out for 7 or 8 minute drives. Ginn, Camrello, Bess and 2 rookies aren't goint to do much to help in a deep passing game when you have a QB who can't throw a solid long pass. Don't get me wrong Chad P. is a good QB but he needs some Wide outs who can make the big play. Parcells and Ireland I beg of you to upgrade this offense and make a move for a top WR. Just look at the teams that have played in the super bowl the past decade and the talent at the WR spot. Ward, Fitz, Boldin, Moss, Burress, Steve Smith (Panthers), Owens, Keyshawn Johnson. I love the Dolphins but they don't have anything close to that.

Gamebreaker would have to be Ginn/Ronnie Brown. I would have liked to see some screen passes for Ginn and Brown.

Ronnie Brown is our #1 impact player. Our Oline seemed to have gotten the job done well enough last night. Ted Ginn, Pennington and the rest of the receivers have GOT to step up and become impact players. We can grind our way to wins with Ronnie and Ricky, but we have gotta be able to finesse our way to wins too like the Colts do. The NFL is THAT competitive. You gotta have a FULL arsenal of weapons. Real nasty ones.

Pennington needs to get some more confidence or something. He's playing it too safe. Peyton plays like "he's been there before" (and he has of course). He knows he can run to a telephone booth, put his Superman suit on and go out there and save the team from defeat. Pennington and our receivers need THAT kind of confidence. Not playing "not to lose". Gotta take some bigger CALCULATED risks out there, not just the low risk stuff.

I hope they step up and play like that.

Davone Bess given the oppertunity, is our guy. Watch, he will be the hero at some point this season, when Ginn cant!!! You heard it here first.
