...when we would get down to the last two minutes, down by one score, and Dan Marino would jog out onto the field...You almost knew we were going to march down the field and win that game. You just had that much confidence in the guy. I know alot of it came from experience watching him do it over and over again, but part of it came from him and his intense confidence in himself. He believed that every time he touched the ball, they were going to score. And he made his teammates and the fans feel that, too.
I think what we saw tonight is a guy who maybe has lost a little of his confidence in himself over the last year. He just didn't look that confident back in the pocket. That in no way means he does not have the ability to lead the team. He obviously has the physical ability. But it takes time, and alot of successful plays to get that confidence back. He's been off the field for a long time, and it'll take time to get his swagger back. But I have a feeling that over the next few weeks, we'll see that change. He started his first game in nearly a year against perhaps the best defense in the league tonight. The good news is this - just about every team in the league stinks in week one. We just made a few more mistakes tonight.
But the playoff teams get on a roll in November, so we've got alot of ball ahead of us.
