Who will play free safety for the Miami Dolphins?

Bell is a vital cog to this defense, which was improved significantly on Wednesday when the Dolphins re-signed nose tackle Paul Soliai to a team-friendly deal, and added defensive back Richard Marshall, signing the former Cardinals cornerback to a three-year, $16 million deal that guarantees him $6 million. Has there been any word on Reggie Nelson yet?
I thought he was just waiting for an offer from us.
Or like Sparanos13 said, maybe that's why we got Marshall from AZ?
Per Omar Kelly, we'll keep Sean Smith at the 2nd CB spot and slip Richard to safety.
 
I'd like to leave Marshall at CB to let him push Sean Smith and bring in Reggie Nelson to play FS. Both of those guys are relatively cheap and it would really shore up our secondary. Still need a pass rusher and everything on offense though.

At this point I am comfortable saying that Richard Marshall is the Miami Dolphins' new starting Free Safety. More than a guess.

I wouldn't say his range is functionally special, but he's clearly fast and has the 4.42 at the Combine to prove it.

As a safety, he's a very quick-hipped guy with lots of stop-start ability. Not a power tackler but a solid one with strong hands.

2) He played a lot more safety than people think. In the two games I've watched, that's the majority of his snaps.

From what I saw you don't want him playing tight man to man on the perimeter unless he's got safety help. He can play off cover or cover two

Been watching some Richard Marshall. I have some thoughts. 1) He's not a corner. Or at least if you play him there, he's very limited.
 
Definitely a good possibility. Pretty good size, He's 5'11, 198lbs, good tackler, and had 10 ints/27 passes defensed the past 3 seasons.

Rumor is he is going to Re-Sign with Cincy and Miami hasn't expressed intrest per Twitter. Obviously Im just relaying what I read.
 
I believe Richard Marshall is the Dolphins' new Free Safety. If you look at what things people talk about that followed Arizona, he's known as a leader and a film studier. The Cardinals obviously felt that was a good fit because that's where they had him all year on nickel downs, as one of the team's safeties. They ended up needing him as a corner but that was to Marshall's credit that he was able to come down and play corner. Still that's not where his future will be.

Don't look for the Dolphins to confirm this because I think they like teams not knowing whether or not they'll be targeting a Safety on Day 2 of the Draft.

I'm not CERTAIN that he's the Free Safety but I think it's more than just a guess at this point. It all fits. The thing that would not fit would be having him come down and be a corner spot, IMO. In fact, his presence may impact Sean Smith by doing away with a tendency they developed to have Sean Smith play an off safety look on nickel downs. They may want him to concentrate on being a corner.
 
The thing that would flat out SHOCK me at this point would be for the Dolphins to express interest in Reggie Nelson. They chose Richard Marshall over Reggie Nelson and I think it was a good choice.
 
Reggie Nelson is overrated and almost as stupid and prone to make mistakes as Reshad Jones, if thats even possible.
