I don't doubt Saban at all, but who will play LT? Letting our 16-game starter go without even trying to restructure him tells me old St. Nick has something up his sleeve. Anybody have any thoughts? LTs just don't fall from the sky.

Thank god they don't fall from the sky. Could you imagine walking down the street and getting hit all of a sudden by something over 300 pounds?

Anyways, I think Saban and Mueller will try and get somebody in Free Agency, but I wouldn't be suprised to see our 1st round pick spent on a LT.

Maybe they think Alabi is ready or maybe they are moving Carey back over. Honestly right now LT is worrying me the most

Wouldn't surprise me one bit either Nubs

remember guys, it's March, the season starts in September.

Oh yeah, and we've got Coach Houck.

Yep, As of now Alabi would be the stating LT ( assuming Carey does't get another shot). I know Alabi has some upside, but how much did he play last year? Is he the answer as a ful-time starter?

yeah, Damion was one of the weakest in the league...IMO. We can get an upgrade for sure.

I think now that it looks like there will be no cba agreement I really don't think we will have the $ to get one in FA. Brees will be all we can really after clear enough money to also sign our draft picks.
We are in serious need of at least one CB, a saftey, and one OLB also. I think we will get Brees and maybe one cheap corner or one OLB in FA and the rest will come from the draft. I would consider Jason Fabini at LT. I figure we could have him for slightly over league minimum. He could hang in there for one year. Next year we could upgrade.

Its because our LT is already on the roster... His name is Vernon Carey...

I can see Carey moving to left tackle, especially since he's a bit more comfortable in Houck's system now.

Being comfortable really doesn't have anything to do with it. Either he has the athletic ability to play the position, or he doesn't. I'm guessing that unless he lost a lot of weight he wouldn't be any better than McIntosh.

Houck can coach up guys to play as well as Mac for half the cost

That's all fine and dandy, but I don't think playing as well as Mac is the point. We want a substantial upgrade, and as good as Houck may be, he can only do so much at a position that necessitates a good amount of athletic ability.

I'm thinking that Alabi will be the LT of the future. With Carey staying at RT or moving to guard.
