Who will wear our defensive player headset?

I think it will be Joey Porter or Vonnie Holiday

Joey Porter makes sense, but does he play every down? I would imagine he comes out in dime and maybe nickel.
Joey is probably best the best pass rusher on the team, he will not come out in dime or nickel situations.

It will probably be Channing if he starts and Akin Ayodele or Reggie Torbor, whichever one takes Crowder's place in obvious passing situations.

FYI,

Two defensive players from each team will be allowed to wear helmets with speakers in them to receive play calls from coaches.

Only one defensive player with a speaker in his helmet can be on the field at a time, and he must check in with game officials.

If both designated players with helmet speakers are on the field together, it will result in a 5-yard penalty.

If I were the coaches, I would put one headset on Will Allen. I mean, you want the headset on a guy that is almost never going to come off the field, and on a guy that knows his stuff. Will Allen fits that bill better than any other player on the D. He's the #1 lockdown corner, and rarely will you ever see the offense put 0 WRs in their offensive package, and even when they do one could argue Will Allen would be on the field anyway to help guard against a play-action pass.

The second headset I would probably prefer to be on a front seven player but the entire front seven figures to be rotated with regularity which is probably why Sparano indicated at yesterday's presser that this whole headset situation was "tough to figure out". They seem to be featuring Vonnie Holliday all over the place but that doesn't mean they won't rotate him. Between Channing Crowder, Akin Ayodele and Reggie Torbor, I expect heavy rotation at ILB in order to keep those bangers fresh and ready to take on blockers. Joey Porter's snaps probably have to be limited in some way and it they're probably going to want to get both Quentin Moses and Charlie Anderson involved in the games as both have shown promise.

The most likely candidates in the front seven are Channing Crowder and Vonnie Holliday. They probably need to have one in each unit between the secondary and front seven.

Making it so that both players can not be on the field at the same time makes it challenging. You want one of your smarter and better players to have the headseat, and at the same time this guy will rarely be off the field. That means whoever else gets the headset has to be someone that will not be in the rotation much. I don't like that part of the rule, unless the second owner of the headset can have two helmets, one with and one without. Otherwise you always have to give the second headset to someone who doesn't need to be wearing it in the first place....

Yup. I don't see the problem with having multiple headsets on the field.. This is a game about skill on the field, not skill in deciphering signals as fast as you can.

I am reading the latest issue of Sportingnews magazine and they said Channing will be wearing the headset.
