We all know that the Hurricanes are playing at home in Dolphins stadium now, and both the Dolphins and Hurricanes had lousy seasons last year. Both seem to be headed in the right direction. The Dolphins with Parcells and company and their plethora of draft picks, and the Hurricanes with their wonderful recruiting class. So my question is this, who will be restored to prominence 1st? Hopefully we can get rid of this black cloud that seems to hang over the stadium

The Hurricanes, The ACC is probably as down as its ever been and i really like the job that Randy Shannon has done down there rebuilding (or should i say, reloading) the program. They already have some solid players on that team, and more good recruits coming in, and lets face it, historically national collegiate powers seldom suffer though years and years of horrible football. The Canes will be back soon. The Dolphins are going to have a tough time catching up to the rest of the AFC, and the Patriots who are in their own back yard.

Also doesn't the college season kick off a week or two before the NFL?

People keep being ignorant saying the ACC isn't an elite conferance. Their are sadly mistaken. Year after year the ACC throws out stars in the NFL while the wussy SEC finess conferance throws busts. Miami and BC get their tails handed to them because this isn't the Big East. The ACC is hands down the greatest conferance in every sport. They have the best players and the best coaches and on any given Saturday anyone can win.

A good point, but on the collegiate level the ACC has:

- A down Miami program
- A down Florida State program
- Wake Forest one of the smaller schools (especially financially) in the conference being one of the better teams, while Duke and UNC are terrible.

And who in the ACC is or has been in the last few seasons a legitimate threat to win the National title?

Boston College and VT? Teams who collapse at the end of the season and end up knocked out of contention.

No denying the ACC at least over the last decade has produced the best players in the NFL, by FAR. The Hurricanes a lone with guys like Ed Reed, Clinton Portis, Jeremey Shockey, Kellen Winslow etc. etc.

But on an NCAA level the ACC just isn't as good as it used to be, and is certainly very winnable if the Canes or Noles can revert back to form.

Every year except for this year the ACC has won that cup thing for the confrances with the best bowl win %. Also the ACC hasn't had a so-called contender because the teams are all good except for the bottom feeders. We own the the Bowls against any conferance. BTW FSU, VT, and UM still puts out as many 1st rounders as always and it's not that their down but the competition. The Bowls speaks for themselves.

The 'wussy' SEC? I am in no way going to argue that Miami is not a Pro Powerhouse, even when the team is terrible they still bring out first rounders. However, personally i believe thats because players at the U are out for themselves more than they are about winning football games. A friend of mine goes to the U, and hes a physiology major whose currently interning at a pre-combine facility with players from all over the country. He laughs at the players from the U saying "if these guys cared half as much about winning as they do about money and cars and whatever, the canes would still be #1"

I dont wanna get into a conference arguement, but the SEC is not 'wussy'. Big Ten, Big East, etc, maybe. Not the SEC though. I think the last two National Champs have proved that.

We need a playoff. LSU and Florida would run into the same thing Miami, BC, and VT ran into in the ACC. Now with Butch Davis and Tennessee's prized OC David Cutcliffe in the mix nobody is going to be a pushover. Their isn't a team out there that could win every game in the ACC whether it's USC, LSU, or any other so called perrenial power team. There is a reason the best coaches come to the ACC year in and year out.

There isnt a team in the nation that could win every game in the SEC either. I mean there were arguments that Georgia, who didn't even win the SEC, deserved a shot at the nation title.

I think all football fans agree about the playoff system, but it will never happen. Schools would only lose money through the process, so in the end there would be no point.

I agree about Georgia this year. They had a heck of a team. Some SEC partial posters and the Matt Ryan critics keep saying the ACC is a subpar conferance and the are ignorant on the subject obviously. Even UNC has a top 10 projected pick this year and with Butch at the helm now that will become a every year thing. They don't understand that Matt Ryan put up unbeleivable #'s against future NFL stars and pro ready D's all through the conferance without a real supporting cast to help at all. That is why the NFL draft experts are all over him. The ACC puts out more pro ready players than anyone else is what I'm saying and they produce on the next level.

Exactly my thoughts. The ACC isn't even close to the same as the NFL. The Canes should be winning their division by next season. The Fins are probably 3 years from being a wildcard team.

Keep thinking that way and you will keep being disappointed. The last good coach Miami had is at UNC now and has a few weapons of his own. Not to mention VA, VT, Clemson, Maryland, GT, FSU, Wake Forest, and BC all having great coaches with real players. The ACC is only down to the ignorant.

Not trying to diss the ACC,but the SEC has five coaches that
have won a Nat'l championship, other than Bobby Bowden,
how many ACC coaches have won a title?

How many SEC coaches are quitters that can't cut it anywhere? Their a bunch of lying wimps that put out busts every year and compare football games to terrorist attack. How many SEC coaches won with the team they currently coach without controversy?
