If you had to take one not knowing anything about them but their collage careers who would you draft? By the way CP was taken 18th over all and of course CH was taken 57th.

Just want to add the fact that Henne didn't have Randy Moss to throw to in collage. Just saying..........

But hey Penny never lost to Appalachian State either so..

Penny had Moss for 1 season, Penny's junior year. Moss played two years, and Penny was redshirted for the first year. Penny had better numbers in his senior season without Moss.

I don't know how anyone can definitely say Penny when

1) We have no idea what Henne will be like as a QB in a full season.
2) Penny has never won a SB.

The question was "not knowing anything about them but their collage careers who would you draft?" This has nothing to do with either of the two points that you noted above. Penny was the better college QB with more pro potential at the time than Henne. Answer: Penny.

If they were both roughly the same age I'd go with Pennington. If we were talking about long-term starters at their respective ages, I'd go with Henne.

In Henne's defense, he scored enough points to win the game, not his fault the defense could not hold Appalachian State everytime Michigan scored.

Henne. 4 years starting in a big name pro style college offense, and he has the tools and mechanics to start in the NFL.

Not to take anything from Penny, but Michigan holds a bit more water than Marshall does in terms of QBs.

Penny hands down... AND even if could predict Penny's stats as they have been I would still take Penny... so far.

I know Penny can win and I think if he was on the Dolphins over the past years we would have gone deeper in to the playoffs then we have since Marino. I also believe Penny would have been more successful here then he was in New York with our dominating D helping the field position battle.

Henne could end up being Alex Smith for all we know... Penny has been a winner guaranteed.

Interesting question.. thanks.

Considering leadership, intelligence, relative NCAA accomplishments, and not being able to foresee the future severe injuries and the limitations on an already less-than-average arm, I'd definitely take Penny. If it was a Penny with his present arm strength and velocity, I'd have to have gone with Henne of those 2. However, of everyone who's come out over the last several years, the guy I wanted most and thought we might have a shot at, at least until he zoomed up the draft chart the last couple of weeks, was Phillip Rivers
