Just thought it would be a decent questions since Zack and Trent are gone, JT is a question mark and ronnie is coming on the knee injury. So who do you think is going to step up and take over the leadership role of this team this year. John Beck? Joey Porter?
 
It's hard for me to believe it wouldn't be Jason Taylor even after his "conflict" with the organization this off-season. Similar to how Strahan remained the leader of the Giants defense with his antics, Taylor will remain the Dolphins leader. Official captains for the coin toss? I dont know, i guess Brown, Taylor and Feely?
 
I can see Bell, especially after whole quarterback comment from Sparano. I could also see Porter or Fergueson, if JT is gone. On offense, maybe Satele or Smiley. Down the road I could definitely see Jake, but not right off the bat.

Ricky Williams should be named one of the captains. Yes he has let the team down in the past, but it seems this offseason he has worked hard to become a better player. Plus when he is on the roster, he works hard and is a good teammate.

I was actually thinking that myself, but not until after I had already posted it.
 
Will allen( i think he is our Best corner and one of the most unerrated Corners in the nfl i think he Derserves to be a Captian), Jay Feely( i hate putting kickers up there but they will always be a Captain on ever team), Ronnie Brown( he is our best Offesive player hands down and he should be one of our Captians), and Jason Taylor or Joey Porter ( if Taylor is still here he should be the captian but if not then Porter should be the captian)
 
I believe four are selected, one from each unit and one extra. This being the case . . .

With Jason . . .
O - Brown or Carey
D - Jason
ST - Feeley
EX - Porter

Without . . .
O - Brown or Carey
D - Porter
ST - Feeley
EX - Other offense or Will Allen

Can you imagine the positive moral boost that would give Ricky? It might even make him that much better. It sounds stupid but getting labeled a captain by Sparano (Parcells) would show Ricky that even though hes #2 RB he still matters. You know hes concerned with his legacy so its going to help.

Actually No I was being serious. I am not sure which reporter stated this but he said Rickey was the best Dolphins on the field at minicamp. I know Ricky has made his mistakes in the past, but this would show him that the currnent coaching staff has coifidence in him to come back and be a team leader on and off the field.
I realize that there are good auguments on both sides to this issue, it just seems like when Williams is focused on football, Ricky gives a 110% on and off the field. And this year with the new coaching staff Ricky seems to be focused on being a good player in the fall.

My four captains would be
O-Ronnie Brown
D-Jason Taylor or Joey Porter(if Taylor is no longer a dolphin)
S-Ted Ginn
A-Ricky Williams

i wouldnt mind seeing ricky as a cap..
but i also understand why its a crazy idea..
i think porter might get the nod
i think vonnie deserves it
but my o vote is for david martin what a pro

Can you imagine the negative moral slam that would give all the players that work their butts off and actually follow the rules and live up to the contracts they signed. Ricky is constantly faced with the same choices that every other NFL player faces.... honor the contract he agreed to and honor his team and teammates, or do whatever the heck he wants to do even if it violates the contract he himself signed...and puts his team and teammates in a bind. Ricky has repeatedly chosen the latter. You really want someone like that representing your team? Give the captain label to somebody that deserves it...and has earned it. If Ricky wants to feel like he matters as a #2 RB, he needs to stay clean, show up and earn that level of respect.

As for Ricky's "legacy"....who gives a hoot???
Your legacy is what you make it. If Ricky is unhappy with where his legacy stands today, he is the only one to blame for it, and he is the only one that can do anything about it.
 
I say we pick up Benson. He was a good captain on his boat a couple of weekends ago! :lol:
