A. Joe Philbin
B. Ryan Tannehill
C. Media
D. All of he Above

I say B, Ryan Tannehill because if his play was better the media wouldn't be asking Philbin the question and Philbin wouldn't have to give some non-committal answer. No one is asking Denver's Coach if Peyton is starting. No one is asking Harbaugh If Flacco is starting et..... So Ryan... if you wish your coach had handled the situation better.... how about you handle your the situation on the filed better and maybe there's no situation for your coach to handle.

Personally, I think the entire situation is over blown.

That being said, Joe slipped up and threw 'doubt' into the QB situation after a terrible performance by Tannehill. Joe should of known the media was looking any hint of turmoil or drama in the locker room in order to make a story out of it.

Joe delivered and the media blew up.

Joe apologized but instead of taking that moment to back up Tannehill and putting everything to rest with a, 'Ryan is our guy 100%...etc' he continued his vague 'we will play who we think gives us the better chance to win' crap giving the media more fuel to run with.

A. Joe Philbin. Because even after everyone knows who the starter is -- from the starting QB's own lips -- he still won't name the starting QB.

I don't see how you can blame the media for this. The media gave Joe about a dozen chances on the first day alone to back himself out of the controversy and he stubbornly refused to take the lifeline.

Joe Philbin claims that it's his 'personal policy' not to name who will be starting at any particular position. Yet a few weeks ago he came out and named Shelley Smith his starting right guard. So let me get this straight, it's OK for Joe to break his personal policy for a position that isn't going to create a controversy, but it is NOT acceptable for Joe to break that policy when it's his starting quarterback and his refusal to name the starting QB is going to be national news?

Joe Philbin claimed that he 'didn't know' who his starting quarterback was going to be. Yet Bill Lazor knew it was going to be Ryan Tannehill. Ryan Tannehill knew it was going to be Ryan Tannehill. Players on the team knew it was going to be Ryan Tannehill. So Joe Philbin also lied about it.

Conclusion: Joe Philbin is either enacting some Machiavellian plan to rally his team by getting them to hate him, or Joe Philbin is so tone deaf and unsound of judgment that he actually thought that rigidly adhering to some stupid personal media policy which he hasn't rigidly adhered to in the past would somehow be preferable to averting a media ****storm.

There is no controversy.

Agreed. There never was a QB controversy.

Anyone who follows the Dolphins knew there was never a chance of Ryan Tannehill being benched this week. The whole situation was just a chance for angry fans to point their finger at something, which was really nothing.

I'm can't blame Joe philbin for this because there is ONLY ONE correct answer to that question that will avoid the media over blowing it and that question is Tannehill is the starter. Period point blank. Anything other than that and it will get blown up. But here's the problem with that.. if he says Tannehill is the starter and then starts Matt Moore, then he's a Liar ala Nick Saban. Damned if you do damned if you don't. I see why coaches like Bill B and Popovich don't won't say much of anything to the media. It's a lose lose situation.

But there is one person i can blame and thats Ryan T. If he hadn't been playing below average.... then the media wouldn't be asking the question. The ONLY reason Joe Philbin has to field that question is because his QB is not playing well and has not played well consistently enough to be above being benched. I don't buy this whole distraction and QB controversy crap. These are grown ass men. If you wan't the coach to put his titty in your mouth and name you the unquestionable starter even though your play on the field hasn't earned that right... then screw you. PLAY BETTER AND YOU'LL EARN THAT RIGHT. UNTIL THEN YOU SHOULD ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, TEXTS, EMAILS ETC...

Wow, so Tannehill gets no blame here huh? He can just play like crap and expect his coach to keep naming him the starter week in and week out without question? #CHILDPLEASE In my Ohcho Cinco voice.

The controversy is the fact that the media is asking the questions and the coach isn't saying that the current QB will definitely be the starter on Sunday. Whether there is question internally or not, if the world thinks there is..... then there is until either the coach coach says there isn't or the QB plays at a level where the world can see there isn't. Until then... philbin will get asked that question EVERY WEEK until seasons end.

Another trolling agenda-driven attempted droolfest started by an agendist... who didn't like the answer he/she expected to get. Go figure :idk:

All of the above to some degree. I'll give the media most of the blame, though for even thinking Moore is a viable alternative

If the QB is playing badly enough to be benched, you bench him. You don't leave him twisting in the wind and force your entire team to answer questions about it for a week.

Let me give you an example: Rex Ryan and his QBs.

Rex Ryan had now had two bad starting quarterbacks to work with as a head coach. Rex Ryan has publicly supported the hell out of both of them. Just this week, Geno Smith was godawful in a primetime football game, yet Rex came out and gave him a huge vote of confidence. Now, the Jets offense has been a trainwreck under Rex -- and mostly because of bad personnel -- but don't you think there's a reason that team comes out every week and plays with their hair on fire? Whereas Uncle Joe's team comes out flat as the top of Mesa Verde?

One of these guys knows how to manage his players.

If the QB plays poorly, the same thing happens...

in High school

in College

and in the NFL...

They get benched. It is the Head coach's job to deal with that situation. Joe Montana has been benched.

The MAIN thing here is that the local media EXIST purely to create controversy.

The head coach didn't bench the QB, he didn't say anything about benching the QB. He just chose to not answer the MEDIA's question.

Our main problem is that the players ALLOW the press to affect them. They are NOT mentally tough. Philbin is too soft with them, he is not able to effectively deal with the local media.

If you want to learn something about a coach handling the press when asked about his QB check Rex Ryan after the MNF debacle.
You just like ****ing around
