In the Gus vs. AJ debate (that Saban will shortly decide for us)....
Could more of the blame be placed on the inconsistent OL play than on whether Gus is better or AJ under/over throws, etc ??
Looking closely at the Atlanta game, the OL play was terrible for the entire first half...Gus couldn't throw anything deep because he didn't have time. AJ was hit as soon as he threw on at least 7 of his attempts. The backs had no holes, thank goodness Brown and Ricky could make a few of their own...On AJ's pick-6, the center (I don't beleive it was McKinney, but I'm not sure) had a beautiful "whiff" block on the DT and Feeley was clobbered as he threw the ball. He constantly had to throw off his back foot, because he was backpeddling all night long...It brought back some painful memories of 2004...
I realize that we were pretty vanilla also...we will be playing these guys again soon...the same with the Bucs...but somewhere along the line, the offensive line has to be more consistent and not being so.....offensive !!
