Reshad Jones wasn't GREAT last season but he made a few splash plays so his inconsistencies were easily masked for casual fans. He did some exciting things for us last season, but everyone fell in love with a player who just wasn't a complete or consistent defensive threat - yet. Then he got an undeserved extension and we have seen the same inconsistent play except no splash plays that help you forget how sorry he can be.
Wheeler's contract was questionable but more of a gamble... giving Reshad Jones that extension before he did anything two years in a row was simply a stupid move. Hopefully he starts picking up his play, hopefully they both do.
tonight i would say they were both equally awful. jones is making 7 mill a year? easily the one of the worst contracts i can remeber based on his play this year. he is absolutely awful. as for wheeler, he cant cover anything, misses tackles consistently, other than that hes fine.
I have no clue what game they are watching. I am not throwing #20 under the bus but wow, I expect better from him. And Wheeler... I almost want Burnett back.
And BTW, defense played GREAT tonight as a UNIT, and is the reason we won the game. But those two players are struggling.
Thing is, he's only had one really good year. Its too small a sample size to make an objective evaluation, or say, decide on a multimillion dollar extension. I was baffled when he got it quite frankly
