I read many post here and there on dolfins forum and internet and I don't understand why many doubt about roth ability.

Imo is guy is a non stop motor, solid tackler and last year he recorded 5 sack (our second est sack player)......so I don't understand.

could anybody explain me why doubt him .

thanks ! :thanks:

He will only get better after last year being his first year playing OLB.
However he has things that wont change like his short arms not being able to reach out to make a tackle.
His high speed motor gets him in trouble almost as much as it helps him.
He is pretty slow for OLB as well

ok but the trifecta like big body LB and roth is a big body who is very good against the run and JMO very correct in sack department.

He's slow, looks lost when he's in space, has problems disengaging from blockers once they are on him. It's just the facts. Nothing against him, I really like the guy but about the only thing he does well is set the edge on runs to his side.

Thats exactally why Wake will come in on passing downs to bring the pressure

so, if I understand you corectly, wake is only here for passing down and pass rush ability and roth for only running play ?

yes IMO Wake is in a diffrent universe then Roth in pass rushing but Roth is a proven run stopper so they will team up on that side..

I look at Roth as like a rookie last year...it usually takes 2 or 3 yrs for college de's to make the complete conversion to OLB. If Roth can't get it done, Wake will come in on passing down until he learnes the rest of the skills to play the position. Happens a lot with DE conversions. A non issue IMO.

I love roth too and I hope we will sign an extension, but IMO perhaps wake is groom this year to take joe porter position next year !

JMO only !

Ok I love to compare people so I figured I would compare Roth's first four seasons with Taylor's and Briggs first four.

Taylor's Stats for his first four seasons

Games Started: 57 Sacks: 31 FF:7 Tkl: 125 Ast: 72

Briggs stats for his first fours seasons

Games Started: 61 Sacks: 3.5 FF:5 Tkl: 363 Ast: 81

Roth's Stats for his first four seasons

Games Started: 23 Sacks: 12.5 FF:0 Tkl: 120 Ast: 35

Obviously Roth was also asked to switch his position and transition into a new roll. Roth started 34 less games then Taylor and 38 less then Briggs in his first four years in the league. If you adjust Roth’s stats and assume he played in 59 games it would look like this;

Games Started: 59 Sacks: 32 FF: 1 - 3?? Tkl: 307 Ast: 90

Take it for what it’s worth there are a lot of assumptions in the numbers but the averages are really not that far off Taylor or Briggs. To me it would say the man at least has talent and a potential huge upside if he keeps developing.

Roth is a BEASTTTTTTTTTTTTT...... Dont Hate or he will come after you....

he's our best run stopping LB. He'll probably be the starter because of the amount of runs on 1st down. Expect JT to come in on 2nd and 3rd and longs..

Roth will be alot better, his motor is awesome.. I hope he can get 7 sacks and some TFL. He's gonna be even better after one full season of OLB under his belt.
