if our pass rush doesn't get alot better, then Champ Bailey couldn't even save us

we better think about grabbing a Larry English before a CB in round 1 or FA
 
Or...a really good secondary could provide a couple extra seconds for the pass rush to get there...it goes both ways.
 
I'm all about the pass rush making the secondary look good, but you do need 2 starting caliber corners.
 
Yes, the pass rush is #1 priority in helping the secondary.
However, sometimes a good secondary can help the pass rush get a coverage sack.

It DOES go both ways, but the pass rush is more important overall.

I'm fine with either pass rush or CB or WR help with our 1st rounder.

We still have some options in FA, which can affect this.
 
Let me reiterate, WE NEED CORNERS. Alot more than anyone needs to read this thread.

yes genius

they are rarer than hens teeth, especially with our pass rushers

having only 1 guy who can rush the passer is unacceptable

we need to bring hell on every passing down
 
if we go into '09 with only JPeezy rushing the passer there will be zero coverage sacks

We brought in Cameron Wake to provide pressure on the other side of JP and we have way too many needs to draft a depth player in round 1.
Not to mention the fact that there will be no value in terms of a pass rusher where we pick at 25. Brain Orakpo, Everette Brown, and Larry English will all be gone and I'd hate to see us pick Aaron Maybin who has a safety body. I'd like Sintim or Barwin later on in round 2 or 3, but no way do I want to see us picking one of them in the first.

In the first round we need to get a corner (because we currently have NO ONE outside of Will Allen on the depth chart) or a receiver because we desperately need a game breaker who can go up and get the football... I'm rooting very hard for Ted Ginn to get better, but he must first grow male genitalia.
 
To answer the OP, because they like their team to win games. Good CB help them do that.

Exactly!!! I know some of you are too young to remember the pathetic TOAST brothers that we had at the corners in the mid to late 80's in PAUL LANKFORD and WILLIAM JUDSON!!!! I really felt bad for Marino and the O!!! They would put up plenty of points but the D and these turds couldn't stop anyone!They would get toasted on a consistent basis!!! Man they sucked!! Ever since those guys, I have always wanted the PHINS to draft corners so I and the rest of DOLFANS would never go through that again!
 
We had great defenses in the late 90's early 2000's with guys like Surtain, Madison, Brock Marion, Sammy Knight and Terrell Buckley back there. Granted Buckley was only a nickel, but having quality defensive backs is very key to the success of a defense. I agree that pass rush is more important, but that does not downplay the importance of DBs.
