Darlington just restated that the Dolphins were on lockdown with Joe Rose. I'm not trying to be a smartass, just really would like an explanation of why the Dolphins would do this if they were not having contact with Peyton in any way? What would be the point?

To save face? Wouldn't it be better to say we are not interested and prepare for free agency? wouldn't that save face more efficiently? We can move on and concetrate on Flynn or whoever and bow out of the circus.

By staying in lockdown mode, the Dolphins give the impression that something is happening ( why would you if there wasn't) so it's tantamount to publicly saying we are courting Manning.

Maybe it's the other player news orbiting Manning. Meaning, this may have to do with Flynn and Tannehill, smoke screens, etc. Having Miami still interested in Manning, and publicly saying so may make Flynn's agent nervous.
I think "The League" would like a Manning/ Dever marriage, and the resulting placement of Tebow in Jax. Ticket sales in a small market are always motivation for nudging free agents in a certain direction.

I don't get it either. Either they've already made their pitch to Manning some how or they've been told no thanks. My guess is that Matt Flynn is a Dolphin 4:01 tomorrow. Like it or not.

but would Manning really play his last three years in the snow and cold? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

why do you come to that conclusion, Peyton hasn't said either way who he's leaning to, just speculation from reporters.

You can't wait on Peyton to make up his mind if they believe Flynn is the guy for the next 10-12 years. It needs to be a yes or no answer by Peyton ASAP.

Just a guess for why we're on lock down. Otherwise being on lock down doesn't make any sense to me.

For ONCE the Dolphins are being smart and keeping their mouths shut and business in house.

Smartly no leaks, no leads, no nothing. Ross, Ireland, or Philbin could've all been on the phone to manning already this morning as far as anyone else knows!

I like it. Let the speculation fly. I am sure that no matter what people are reporting, there is a lot of planning going on. With Manning or someone else.

They are preparing for free agency, that's the reasoning behind the lockdown I believe. I'm sure the Dolphins have been in some type of discussion with Manning or his agent, and if things don't work out then they are probably prepared to snag Flynn quickly.

It's the day before FA opens. Why would anyone expect the facility open to all? The day before they hit FA and go out and get their QB and fill holes. They are filling the gas tank of the plane that is going to pick up Flynn and bring him in. Why would they want any media getting any kind of scoop on their plans - that makes no sense.

but they've been on lockdown since this Manning circus started up. We'll see I guess, I think we are just as much in it ( for Manning) as anyone. Yet, maybe the Dolphins really want Flynn instead, who the hell knows and this is all a smokescreen. Patience I guess.
