I know Ireland is already under fire from the fanbase, some (ex) players, and so on and so on...

But why they keep on bringing free agents for visits, and then no action taken... I may agree that Manning and Eric Winston were too expensive but we had a few guys we were supposed to sign...

Jake Scott for example would solidify the O-line and would be one less headache to worry in the draft and also would make this line great....

Mark Anderson would also be a great pickup for this defense and also provide a veteran presence at the same time taking pressure off Wake.....

If Ireland has a plan and a budget to follow, why could he just tell the Free Agents in advance on the phone before they actually come for a useless visit???

I'm not venting, juts don't understand the way to do business at Davie, Florida...

This is the second wave of free agency. The guys left need to realize that they're not going to get the money they thought they were.

Mark Anderson signed and for almost 7 million per year. Thats a lot of dough for someone that had 4 down years before this past season.

Rumor is Jake Scott wants 5 million per. Both sides are interested in getting a deal done and are still talking.

It's all about money. Miami has very little and are hoping some of these guys come down on their asking price

couldnt agree more. im at the stage where if a free agent comes in and you know he can fill a starting spot, jake scott-mark anderson-winston, i absolutely know we are not signing them. its pretty pathetic but there is such a negative vibe with this front office right now its almost palpable.

It is possible that he is taking the Green Bay approach, in that free agency will not be the primary focus on building the roster, but for the right price pieces could be used. Philbin said in the years he was at Green Bay they did not find a player of impact at the skill positions on offense. That probably explains why there are not receivers signed, and why the draft will be used. Philbin has been very very clear about how the draft will be utilized to build the roster, and priority will be given to re-signing players that are on the roster for purposes of continued development, like Soliai. I think as long as Philbin is coaching free agency might be used to get a veteran olineman or a defensive back, but probably not a "star" type.

It's not some negative fibe that is the reason guys aren't signing. They don't have the money. There's this thing called a salary cap and Miami is up against it

Ross and Ireland both blew smoke up our rearends before free agency began. They said how aggressive we were going to be and we haven't done jack squat. Just more of their spin doctor lip service that means nothing.

Your absolutely right Op we shouldn't conduct due diligence at the very least. No more free agents unless we're going to sign them no matter what...Besides what more can you possible learn by bringing in an FA for a chat compared to the game tape!

When I go car shopping, I do my research, know my budget, look at the car's appearance and performance on the web, and pretty much know what I can know beforehand walking in. But I still want to test drive the car.

Once I completely walked away from a car I just knew I wanted after seeing it in person and driving it. Wouldn't have bought it at any price. Once I spent way over my initial budget, because the vehicle totally blew me away, plus there were attractive financing options.

They're just doing their jobs, like every other nfl franchise, by the way.

Good analogy, except most people don't waste their time in going to the dealership to look at/test drive the car if they know they'll never be able to afford the car. As pointed out, if I know I only have $5000 to spend on a used car and the car dealer is asking $15,000 for the car, I'm not going to waste the time looking at the car. If I'm interested but they aren't willing to negotiate the price, then I don't wast the time/gas to look at it. That's the point the OP is making. I do think the FO is getting caught up in shopping at the Mercedes or BMW lot, but only willing to spend Yugo money on a car. So why waste the time pretending you are truly shopping when you have no real intentions of buying? It's a valid point. Saying they are doing their "due-dilligence" is a cop-out.

Maybe I can't afford the car with my current savings, but if it's a great enough car, maybe I sell my boat or mortgage my house (i.e., cut or restructure other contracts -possibly would've happened for Manning)). Maybe they aren't willing to spend BMW money if they feel the car only has Yugo value (Flynn)?) . Or maybe they feel the car dealer might give them a substantial discount because of their past relationship (Flynn?) Anyway, all it costs is time, so why not look. If nothing else, you're getting an in depth scouting report on a potential future opponent.

Jake Scott and Phillip Wheeler should've been signed sealed and delivered. Scott would be our best guard immediately and Wheeler is an upgrade over Misi. GET IT DONE IRELAND!!!!

How do you know they are clear cut upgrades? Madden Rating?
