Only if you are willing to spend that much. I say draft a kid in the latter round, spend nothing on him and if Tua gets hurt you are “tanking” anyway. If Tua gets hurt again, you are all in on replacing him next season.
It's why I'm confused they only gave Wilson a 1 year deal. If Tua gets hurt again this season, you are done with him and move on. If you think Wilson has anything about him at all you would want him here for next season as the backup plan. We all know McDaniel loves guys to have "time in the system" before he trusts them.

Two reasons. This and he doesn’t fit the offense. He’s Mike White all over again. Exact opposite of a timing QB. Another example of square peg in a round hole.

I suspect is one reason why he was 3rd behind Stidham in Denver. They run a timing offense as well.
I agree ... This offense has been proven to be the death knell of any Qb not named Tua.

Because of that, unless the backup is going to get legitimate time with the starters, the team may as well....

put the cheapest veteran back there and,

draft a Qb with a skill set that is in the ballpark.

The other option may be:
Have two separate schemes so when/if Tua goes down you can bring in a semi competent team that knows the playbook.
Bring in the coach who has been calling the practices for the 2nd team too.
Don't need "magic Mike" bumbling through the thought process of a screen to the flat.

No confusion bro, Wilson is a tank commander. If Tua goes down we can tank without it looking like we are trying to tank.

He has no future purpose, only to look like we tried to improve upon Skylar Thompson, without actually improving upon Skylar Thompson.

We aren't fixing that kid in one off-season, especially with the way we actually treat otas and preseason.

Like reek said, Grier is playing chess.

I think Pickett has had more concussions than Tua. Lol

Wilson has talent. Anyone claiming he doesn’t hasn’t watched him.

His problem is mental. If McD can get Wilson’s head on right the Dolphins may have a steal here.
Newsflash, Wilson sucks and McMoron cant get his own head on right 🤣

I'm not upset. This team needs to tank and clean house. This helps.

A pretty easy statistical argument can be made that Huntley is a better QB. He was picked up on practice squad. Bad money on Wilson. Rather they push it to future years. That's about it.
