Why are YOU upset about the Zach Wilson signing?

My belief is that 95% of backups will fail miserably and IDing the successful ones before the fact is practically impossible. Call it blind luck. That being said, I have no problem with Wilson as he does carry upside potential... I'd much rather bet on potential and fail miserably than bet on safe and still fail miserably...

I posted this in another Zach Wilson thread (there are too many), but I agree wholeheartedly.


Last year, 16 teams had backup QBs start 1 or more games, 15 teams had 1 QB start every game (not counting rest in week 18 games), and 1 team (Steelers) was unsure of who their starter was. Let's break these teams down.

16 teams who had backup QBs start 1 or more games
70-103 with their starters (41%)
22-65 with their backups (25%)
2 teams with a winning record (11%)
2 teams made the playoffs (3 missed games total)

15 teams who had their QB start every game
160-92 (64%)
12 teams with a winning record (80%)
11 teams made the playoffs (73%)

Just for the record, I haven't seen him play. I will if he is on the Dolphins this season. That will be the only meaningful performance for me.

6M seems about right. Totally fine with this signing although I probably would've tried for 2 & 10M in case that upside pays off and having to broker another more expensive deal after the season.

Two reasons. This and he doesn’t fit the offense. He’s Mike White all over again. Exact opposite of a timing QB. Another example of square peg in a round hole.

I suspect is one reason why he was 3rd behind Stidham in Denver. They run a timing offense as well.

I think he does fit this offense. White did too but he just isn't very good.

I got the impression he was very "immature" coming out and the NY media ate him alive.

They ate Geno alive too. Sam too. The NY media is ruthless with any young QB drafted high. There could be others who I'm not thinking of right now.
