The Dolphins were sacked 42 times in the 07' regular season, no quarter back in history has a quick release like Dan Marino had and we all know how that turned out for him and us. But there is a alternative... i was sick to my stomach watching Tim Brady just sit and wait for up to 10 seconds and make an easy pass. To have that happen we need to draft Jake Long to add to our line along with justin smiley we will have a above average O-line and then Beck should have a good opportunity to have some time in the pocket and get passes off to Ginn on a delayed bomb for big yards

Lets be real. He didn't even get a first try.

Tom Brady isn't exactly some dud who has an insanely great line. He has an incredible release, his accuracy is second to none, and people who doubt that he has worked on his deep ball accuracy so much that it looks flawless need to watch last season some more. His two throws at the end of the superbowl were throws I have never seen before.. they were picture perfect passes and honestly, I did not think he could make them.

There's no doubt in my mind that Brady is the best quarterback in the league... in our generation... possibly ever. I know that infringes on Dan the Man, but lets not say that with a perfect OLine John Beck could become Tom Brady

Not ever...

You need to go watch some tape of Marino, Elway, Montana and even Brett Favre... These guys carried their respective teams especialy Dan the Man...

1. Brady has never had to carry his team... Brady's team always balanced... Unlike Dan... who put a team on his shoulders every freakin season..., everybody knew he was going to throw and he did...

Hell Dan made Richmond Webb into a star with his quick release...

2. Brady hasn't played in the greatest generation of football either... Our division is not exactly a powerhouse...

Nobody is anointing Beck as the next Brady, but put him behind Bradys O-Line and give him welker and Moss and I guarantee he does 100% better than last year.

Give the guy time to throw and add a healthy Ronnie Brown and lets see what happens. If he sucks this year we draft a QB high next year.

Lets see what we can get in Rd 3-4 this year. Have you seen Josh Johnson from San Diego St? We can steal him in Rd 3-4 and develop him this year.

I'd actually have to say that any team that you could deem " the greatest " of the 80s would soundly get defeated at the hands of today's Patriots, Chargers, Cowboys and Colts. I understand the certain sentiment that will go on here when it comes to not just Tom Brady but Dan Marino, but to not give Tom Brady his due not only stinks of homerism but of ignorance as well.

But why is that? Its because today ALL players are bred to be bigger, and they're trained and programed to be gym-rats where back in the day some players had to get second jobs or gigs during the offseason.

Its almost comedy when u see how Cam and company treated Beck and the situations they threw him in. It almost felt like Cam was playing a game instead of making smart real life decisions. If you want to develop Beck . . . u play him in that home game against the Bills after the Bye . . . he waits until we go ON THE ROAD at Philly and Pittsburgh . . . does that make any sense? He sat Rivers for 2 years . . . he shouldn't have even put Beck in that spot . . . just sit him for the year. Makes ZERO sense to draft a QB this year early . . . not with the amount of holes on this team and the book not closed on Beck.

We all agree Beck should have another shot, that doesn't mean we shouldn't add another prospect to the mix if the situation is right.

So many seem to think its all or nothing with the QB position, last time I checked its fairly normal to carry 3 QB's, we have two, so adding another young guy with potential seems to be the right thing to do with a rebuilding team.

Maybe out of 3 we will find one really good one.

I agree with that, i just dont think we should use an early pick on one.

Thing is . . . drafting a QB early . . takes a pick away where we can get a guy who can contribute right away in another area. I definitely think we should go QB . . . but later on in the draft. Obviously if a guy like Henne is there at 57 or 64 . . . u gotta think we cant pass up on the potential . . . hell even Flacco . . . but at 32 . . . I think QB is a bit crazy.

I wouldn't mind getting another vet like Simms and adding an Erik Ainge later in the draft

I don't think you limit yourself in the way you gentlemen are suggesting, such as, "I won't pick a QB before the 5th round" etc etc............

You take one when it makes sense, when you have a strong conviction on the player.

What good does it do to take a QB in the 5th round if you have no strong conviction on him?

It's entirely disingenuous to think Beck got a fair shake last year with a leaky creaky OL, a rookie C, a rookie WR, a rookie FB, a revolving door at TE, Ronnie on IR, and the schedule he faced and the playing conditions he was in. Bottom line, the kid was placed in about the worst case scenario.

On the flip side, it's also disingenuous to think Beck is the next great QB in the NFL --- he’s got a lot to prove. But he is (apparently via reports) working his arse off, and he seems very football dedicated, and he’s intelligent, and he’s got a live arm, and quick release, etc.

So the verdict is still out. If the “trifecta” is seeing positive stuff from Beck then give the kid the tools he needs (OL and TE and WR development) and maybe draft a “2nd tier” QB prospect in the middle rounds, but don’t use a high pick because we have way too many needs to stock up on QB when we may (???) have that answer on the current roster.
