I've been here since 1981. So little joy. Early Marino was fun...but things were different back then when Sunday Ticket didn't exist. When I was old enough, going to the bar every Sunday to experience the pain. Before I owned a home, driving 45 minutes to a friend who had Directv every Sunday. Now, spending every Sunday at home watching Sunday Ticket for the past 15 years. Haven't missed a single game since 1995. It's like being obsessed with experiencing disappointment.
I think the worst part has been knowing, as a fan, when things were wrong - Dave Wannstedt being hired, Cameron being hired, Sparano being hired, Philbin being hired - and not being able to do anything about it but wait for it all to crumble eventually. The most painful thing about the NFL is that the seasons are so short - 16 chances per year - and careers are so short, that nothing carries over. We can try to convince ourselves that things will be different next year, and Tannehill will get better, but the fact is that nothing is static year-to-year. By the time this offense is consistently scary to opposing defenses, Cam Wake, Brent Grimes will be gone. We'll be trying to rebuild the defense.
When we had Marino, most years the defense was a disgrace. When we had a defense, we had Jay Fiedler at QB. What next?
