I thought Diamond was an up-and-coming player and a pretty good back-up for McMichael? Anybody know why we cut him? Am I completely wrong in thinking that?

He will be brought back....we need the room for free agency......he will come back before training camp....solid worker

i also thought he was up and coming. he had a great pre season then we barely used him. he was great after the catch, had some real moves in the open field.

Why?, we have Teyo Johnson and Alex Holmes

Anybody know Diamond's cap number? (Better yet, anybody know where I can find a list of everyone's cap number?)

Diamond is a nice role player but that is all...very similar to the role that WW plays...nice player, not great...
At any rate, I am guessing that with today's cuts, we are pretty close to the $94.5 mil cap...when the CBA is resolved (whether that is a new one or the old one)...we'd be where we need to be minus a restructure or two that is sure to come...We could then pursue Brees, cutting Gus in order to sign him...?? Just guesses, but again, Diamond is an ok player, but not a real special guy...

Possible explanation for Diamonds release.

Linehans offensive scheme uses H backs instead of FBs.

I think the FB will come into play again in our new modified Mularky offense thus reducing the need for so many H backs.

Then again he may have been released because he was mediocre during the seccond half of the season.

My understanding is that Mularkey will be running the same offense as last year. Granted I am sure a few tweaks and changes will occur, but not so much that an entire position is elimnated or changed.
