from a pre draft site....
Pick Analysis:
Flynn is a good decision maker, who has played in a successful program at LSU. With Brett Favre's departure, the Packers look to be stockpiling quarterbacks in order to create some competition for Aaron Rodgers. Overview

OverviewMatt Flynn was a top quarterback prospect coming out of the state of Texas and hoped to be the featured quarterback at LSU. He was listed third on the depth chart behind Marcus Randall and JaMarcus Russell during his freshman season with the Tigers.

Flynn again lost the battle for the starting job -- to Russell -- the following season, spending the 2005-06 campaigns as the caddy for the first choice in the 2007 NFL Draft. With Russell bolting a year early for the professional ranks, the senior passer was primed to take over full-time signal-calling duties in 2007.

O great a scouting report from 5 years ago..says everything about Flynn today...

Go back and read the scouting reports on Tom Brady and tell me if you would have ever wanted him to be picked for your team.

Tom Brady too... was drafted in the late rounds. see how that turned out.

Flynn slid, because he is a bum. Stop drinking the kool-aid. He is just the updated version of Scott Mitchell.

So how do you know this??? Basing it off of what??? Not being a wise ass here just curious as to your credentials in evaluating talent. Have you been at the NFL Combines??? Are you a scout??? Please tell us because I'm curious about the info you have stock piled. Thanks! Waiting for your reply because you sound like a guy who knows what he's talking about regarding NFL talent. Who have you scouted in the past???? Please reply because I would rather believe in your word than Coach Philbin's. He doesn't know squat even though he coached him for 4 years, how dare he!!!

He was mostly unseen as a college QB primarily due to the guys ahead of him, and he didn't fit in very well with the offense they were running at LSU.

I wasn't surprised he didn't get picked early, but was very surprised he went as late as he did.

Since he didn't play much in college, the learning curve is going to be sharper for him, but that's where a good OC builds the offense around his strengths instead of worrying about his lack of experience. The experience will come...

Some traits:

Very good size
Good awareness
Lack of experience since High School
Has spent very little time in a Pro style offense
Mediocre arm
Very intelligent.
Good but not a great athlete, more of a pocket passer (Probably why he didnt get much playing time at LSU, BUT, this is also the thing that most resembles Brady)

I really do understand your getting tired of the negative nellies, lots of us are...but the best way to combat that is to stay true to the course, and add value my brother!

He slid to the 7th Round because he taps the ball before he throws - friends - he wins and that is what counts :hysterikill:

i love when people mention this. They bring up the guy who was the exception and not the rule.

If you really want to prove your point, how about go look up every qb drafted in the 5th round and beyond in the past decade, and lets see how many have had major success.

Im sure you may find a few, but overall, the majority of those guys will have either been cut before the start of the season and never take a snap in the nfl, or wont even make it to camp.

The patriots got extremely lucky with brady, because if they thought he was going to be this good, they would not have waited until the 199th overall pick to draft him, and if everyone knew he was this good, he would have been the 1st overall pick.

Can flynn turn into a stud? I mean technically i guess yes because anything can happen? Is it likely? Hells no. What i bet money that he does? Hell no.

And to the people saying he is a winner thats the bottom line, please go look at the last 10 ncaa champions qbs and see how many of them have had success in the nfl.

Yep, plus the noodle arm does'nt help on the plus side he makes quick decisions

Football is still a team game, and he won a game for a great team. Color me unimpressed, i'm curious as to what we do with Alex Smith. Priority 1 at the QB position remains Brandon Weeden imo.

Colour me unimpressed with this response - "He was drafted" because he won some big games - this all before he turned pro go take a look -
