this kid was a beast as a longhorn he went a few spots after we took ronnie in the first round .i know he had a few problems in chi town but comeon how much longer will we have ricky to take the load off of ronnie :crazy:he was worth the gamble and he would have not cost us a pick

Not sure why Ricky is a target..He made some great catches last season and he is still a good RB..
Now with the improved O-line, lets wait and see ---

You should have made it clear in your thread that you were talking about as a free agent, and not about drafting him over Ronnie Brown. That being said, I think Ricky was and is a better back than Benson.

Cedric Benson has a 3.7 ypc average.
I don't believe I have ever seen a RB as incompetent in avoiding contact then Benson.
Not to mention his run in with Johnny Law when he uttered the famous words:
"‘Sir, could you please allow me to walk like a man to your cop car?"

In other words. He stinks and is trouble.

at the time ricky was looking pretty good. It seems like benson may finally have his head on straight. looked good the last two games but a few games means little over a career

Ronnie Brown is a Pro Bowl running back. Cedric Benson has been a complete NFL bust and has already been bounced by one team. As mentioned already by JimToss, he only has a 3.7 yards per carry average for his career(Ronnie for comparison has a career average of 4.4 yards).

Benson was arrested a couple of times as a Bear and Ronnie has been a class act and good citizen.

If you are wondering why we didn't sign him when the Bears cut him, those are all prime examples why we did not. He is not very good and has off the field problems. Ricky has put up better numbers then Benson last year and Benson started 10 games while Ricky only started 3 games.

Ricky has said he plans on playing two more seasons(2009 and 2010). He is only signed with the Dolphins through 2009, but if he again proves to be a solid backup and relief for Ronnie, they will re-sign him for 2010. We have plenty of time to find a long term backup for Ronnie(I assume we will re-sign Ronnie next offseason) and there is no need to sign the head case bust Benson.
