This makes me think that Saban doesn't see him as our replacement for Traylor at NT next season. He isn't even listed as the backup NT on the official site. He's the backup to Holiday.

This makes me think that Saban may hit us with a sneak attack on draft day and go NT in the 1st round. Especially, if Manny Wright's situation isn't resolved by then. Comments?

Maybe Alan Branch will be our 1st round pick.

Seems like sound logic to me. Saban tried to trade up to get Haloti Ngata but found the price too steep.

Bingo!!!! I remembered that. I am a CJ and TGjr fan but I know what Saban's thinking. Plus, I know we can find a speedster to replace Booker via free agency. I bet Alan Branch it is, watch.

I would be suprised if big daddy was here next year, didn't he come out of retirement to sign here? Its not like hes in his prime

Why not just keep Booker?

I think you can forget Calvin Johnson. Probably Ted Ginn Jr. as well.

Alan Branch has to be a big possibility at this point. I think Lamarr Woodley or another DE/OLB type has to be a possibility as well, with David Bowens pending free agency.

It will be interesting to see if they go kind of reactionary and draft an OL like Sam Baker or Levi Brown. I have my doubts that they'll do that. Perhaps a guy as high as R2...but prior to this season I had been focusing on the DL positions for our first round pick and I've not really changed my minds.

From what I can piece together Big Daddy seems more like a mercenary type player than a lot of our guys. Maybe he's in it for the dough.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about here but he also had some peculiar technique on the goal line. I know the idea is to get leverage by going lower than the guy in front of you, but Wilkerson dove on the ground on one play and rolled sideways as though he was trying to trip both the tackle and guard. All it did was make it easy for them to step over him and get to the backers and Chester Taylor dove right over the top. I have a hard time believing that Dan Quinn would teach that technique to his linemen. So my long-winded point is that maybe ol' big Daddy is freelancing. That would explain why he might not be appreciated by Saban or I could be completely wrong. Would someone like to set me straight or comment?

I see Bowens being re-signed for some reason as he is able to play the OE that Taylor plays and Roth isn't. Plus he's not old, he's fairly young and productive I might add.

I'd be very stunned if Saban goes ahead and selects an OT in the 1st.

Especially with DMac showing he's definitely a starter this year and Toledo not able to show what he can do under Houck.

I believe that DMac is finally healthy this year. Last year he played superb the second half of the season...and has played great at LT all this season.

I believe he's our answer, for now. We can groom Toledo...and if he shows that he's not going to stay healthy...we draft one in 2008.

Alan Branch is my gut feeling in round 1.

1. McIntosh is playing well, but he's a band-aid. He's John St. Clair.

2. Toledo has nothing to do with the OT position right now. He's been groomed so far as purely a guard, and he fits the profile of what they want there. Toledo is not even in the mix at OT.

3. David Bowens may be re-signed IF he doesn't get many good offers. If he's expensive, Saban will want to go young at his position, trust me.
