Why didn't we go after Jon Kitna?

I think Kitna is very underrated. He's had very good stats minus the 2001 season with the horrible team surrounding him. Last year he put up Pro Bowl numbers. 3600 passing yds, 26 TD's and 15 INT's with a 87.4 passing rating. The year before that he had around an 80 passer rating. Cincinatti's line last year was as bad as ours this year (okay, maybe not that bad... :shakeno: )

I don't think there would be anyway that the Bengals wouldn't have traded him for the 2nd pick we gave for Feeley. He's going to be sitting on the bench as long as Carson Palmer is in Cincinatti (which is going to be a very, very long time)

Someone, PLEASE, tell me why we didn't go after this guy? How is he sitting on the bench while we are STARTING Feeley?

Cinncinnati's line last year was one of the most consistent and good lines in the frickin league!!!

But yes Kitna is underrated.

Levi Jones- Good LT, getting better
Steinbach- Great LG
Braham?- was not bad but solid
Goff I think- Was good for them
Anderson- Pro Bowler that's always underrated

That is a hundred times better than our line.

The reason they didn't go after Kitna is because he would be nothing but a stop gap measure. He's never going to be the answer for a team at the quarterback position, and he offered no potential upside for the future.

Of the quarterbacks that became available, Kerry Collins is the only one I would have picked up. I've been campaigning for Miami to get Collins since 1998. No one knew back in February that Collins was going to be released by the Giants, and to wait on June 1st for Collins to be released would have been foolish. Miami would have missed out on every other option. Did you see him in Norval's offense yesterday? I told you all Norv needed was "his" type of quarterback, and Oakland had their best offensive production of the year with Collins at QB. This proves that Norv's play calling was severely limited by Jay Fiedler's limitations in Miami.

Kurt Warner has no future. Mark Brunell has no future. Jeff Garcia has no future. Tim Couch is out of the league.

AJ Feeley may be struggling right now behind terrible blocking, but he has upside which none of these other quarterbacks have.
