06/07 15:54Chiefs: Turley deal close?THE NEWS
Offensive lineman Kyle Turley may be close to a deal with the Chiefs. "Both parties are speaking, so it's just a matter of whether it can all get worked out," coach Herm Edwards told the Kansas City Star. "Both parties are interested." Turley would be brought in to be a primary backup to Willy Roaf at left tackle. Roaf missed six starts due to injury last year.

I hope I did the Link right.

We could have used him in camp, at least see what he can do :dolphins:

instead we signed kurt heinrich (not sure on spelling) to compete for our 3rd TE spot behind randy and justin pelle

We did not sign him because he came into MC trying to play as a TE. Due to his chronic back problems he can no longer be an effective lineman thus the reason he tried out as TE.

I know he wanted to be a Te , but chiefs are interested in him as a Lineman. Not sure About his weight but you have to love the guys toughness

Yeah, I'm not sure why he is so set on becoming a TE now? When he was in his prime he was one of the top tackles in the game. I would've loved to sign him as a lineman... but apparently he is much smaller now.

do we still have Teyo Johnson too?

We have a lot of depth at tackle... and we prefer our TE's to be athletic pass-catchers.

My guess is he couldn't cut it as a receiving TE, and we don't have the room to give him time to get to where he would need to be to be a Lineman, so we let him go elsewhere where he may have more oppurtunities (as a blocking TE)

Turley is just trying to squeeze as much money he can out of his God-given ability that has been stifled by injury. I respect him, but he probably won't add up to much with whoever he signs with.

That whole article doesn't make any sense. It claims KC wants to sign Turley as a back-up LT. When he had the tryout with us he was down in the 265-280 range. That is no LT! Besides his back problems prevent him from taking on people and standing them up which would make him a major liability in the running game. He was quoted while in Miami that he was now a TE so what is he doing signing on as a T???? I think the writer needs to check his recent facts.

Yep he's still with us but we have heard nothing about him yet and we have continued to sign TE's which suggests he may not be what we were hoping for.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Kyle Turley of today and the Kyle Turley that went to the Pro-Bowl are two VERY different athletes. I highly doubt Turley makes the Chiefs final roster this year.

What the hell are the Chiefs thinking? He is way too small to play RT. What would be the smart thing to do is to have him in the two TE set and let him be the extra blocker or what we call it, the 6th OL.
