I know he wasn't the best QB in Dolphin history, but I don't recall another phin QB in recent post Marino history or another QB except Brett Favre that has played as hard as Fiedler did in Miami. He was one of the most gutsy QB's i've seen play and yeah he made mistakes from time to time, but he always tried his *** off, every week on every play.

So, why the hate?

I dont hate him but we expected better i guess. He was on a hiding to nothing coming in after Dan. Gotta say tho going to our rivals hasnt helped him in the popularity stakes. :shakeno:

The answer to your question can be found in many of the threads in theie forum. Search for Fiedler. Chances are you will find one of the debate threads.

Its increadible how people are obsessed with this player even though he is gone. :shakeno:

I don't hate Fielder per say I hate that management signed this very mediocre QB to a big contract even though he sucked. He was like a 10-3 pitcher with a 7.00 ERA. We told Marino to kiss our *** for this guy, again not Fielder's fault but he had no business as our starter except that wannny was an idiot.

I think people are going to end up hating him even more, after he starts winning games with the jets.

The jets are capable of winning with or without Fielder they just have to try harder with.

oh boy....can we please just do a search for "Fiedler" and save time on this one ...? I personally like Fiedler although not the greatest QB to ever play. That said, many people hate him, primarily b/c he wasn't the next Marino and Wanny kept him around instead of upgrading. He was just doing his job unless people expected him to quit. One thing for sure though...anytime a backup went in everyone cried to have him back (finfans have cried for any QB except the one that's currently playing cuz none of them lately have been anything to brag about) and even gave him a standing ovation against the skins a couple of years ago when he came back in after being out a few weeks.

He's the posterchild for the mess that was the "Wann-Spiel Era". Whether it's deserved is a matter of personal opinion.:cooldude:

Its not hate, its simply a non-appreciation for the wasted 5 years he played a part in. (At least thats how I feel).

 ...Better rush right out to Vegas and bet the house on that one, yeah I'll get right on that.

I think Fiedler's problem was just a real lack of consistency - Remember the game at Dallas 2 years ago where he ripped up there secondary? Or the playoff at home to the colts where in the first half he threw 3 interceptions, then led the team to win overtime (although Lamar smith did most of the work).

I never questioned his heart - he would always play hurt and i think most Qb's in the NFL would have crumbled under the shear weight of criticism he took!

So I always like him - it was down to Wanny to settle the consistency problem through good coaching. I also believe that Brian Griese took too much flack - look at the horrible offensive line for the last 2 seasons and name a Qb that would still get the job done - not many, thats for sure!!!

You nailed his problem, but you don't understand the reason for it.

His inconsistency was what he was, it wasn't somebody elses fault, also the record shows Fiedlers QB rating went down on average in the second half and particullary in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line......top QB's don't do that.
