Since I know LaVar isnt the "great statistics" player, for me he just had 2 great years (2001 & 2002), and maybe a good year in the 2003, after that he just have shown that he has been inconsistent and getting injured a lot, by the way, if his statistics are great and good (2001 - 2003) Donnie Edwards' statistics are SUPER-GREAT and Zach Thomas' statistics are INCREDIBLE-SUPER-GREAT-GREAT-GREAT...

My point is, watch at his statistics and think again if you prefer him over many other LB's, not just in the free agency, but in the draft and cheaper ones...

Lavar, hes younger and a playmaker

LaVar at his age is getting injured that way and is getting that inconsistency????, please I dont want to look at him in the future...

Donnie's stats are very similar to Zach's, and if you ask me who is a bigger playmaker I'd go with Donnie...

If we are going to get Donnie we need to give draft pics, and we only have 6(1,3,4,7,7,7), on the other hand if we are going to get Lavar we only need money without any draft pics

I dont for the life of me understand why anyone thinks Donnie Edwards is a viable alternative for LaVar Arrington.

We need a Strongside linebacker. Someone to play lined up on the Line of scrimmage over a Tight End. A bigger, stronger linebacker who can deal with blockers, and play a forward-moving, aggressive role.

Donnie Edwards does not have the size and strength to play the role in the Dolphins defense. That's not opinion, it's not speculation, it's fact. Donnie Edwards in San Diego played the role of the side-to-sideline ILB role that Zach Thomas plays now. He was protected by D-linemen, and not asked to deal with blockers.

Not to mention he costs a draft pick.

Lavar is a great player when he is healthy

His last two seasons were bad due to injury, but the years before he had tackle numbers in the 90's one year he topped out with 99 tackles

Thats great for an outside linebacker

Lavar would probably be my first choice but if we don't sign him i don't really care that much. I would much rather get Manny Lawson than Donnie Edwards.

Donnie Edwards is a nice alternative to Lavar. Of course, I'm a UCLA guy so obviously I'm partial towards Edwards. Too bad we can't get both. That would really solidify our LB corps.

Thats a valid arguement to change my opinion...
