Why does Gus pump fake before he throws

He pumps everytime he throws and it caused two fumbles one of the them to the house. It makes no sense someone needs to teach him to throw it down field right away or throw the ball away. Sure the pump fakes works sometimes if you have time. But he seems to be ****ing his arm or something it is like he is trying to build up some spring in his arm. Needs to be fixed or he needs to take a seat cause. He seems to have gotten more and more inaccurate as the season goes on.
 
well a lot of QBs pat the ball before they throw it.

he pump fakes cus hes about to throw down the field, and he is hoping the safety will jump on the fake and be out of position when gus throws it.

He does more than just pump fake.. He pets it like he is at a petting zoo!

A lot of QB's don't pat the ball a million times EVERY single pass play.
 
Patting the football isn't his only problem....his high throws are caused by him either not stepping into his throws or just throwing off his back foot....one would think at his age....he would know better.
 
It seems last weeks defenders noticed this as well, everytime he goes to throw he pats the ball... makes it very easy to read the play and alot harder to hold onto while taking a hit (this weeks fumbles)
 
Usually it coincides with a receiver putting a move on to try and draw a defender into a certain position to create an advantage. I'm sorry.. this is the 15th crap on the QB thread. There's more blame to pass around that on one player. Also some of the blame can go to Linehan.
I'm NOT saying Gus is great... But we knew he wasnt before the season started. So don't start crying now. The answer isn't just a "dump another guy at the position" solution.
 
i remember Marino used to pat the ball once every time he threw the ball but when he did it it didn't matter because of how fast he released the ball gus' release isn't that fast and he needs to stop petting the ball and just throw it to someone!

Why he does it should not be worried about. If it is bad...stop it. Don't waste time worrying about why? That is a waste of time.

Listen JP Louseyman got yanked with a 55 passer rating and if AJ had been in with a rating of 44 ( which is what Gus had the last time they showed it on TV) he would have been yanked so how the heck does Gussy stay in?
