Why doesnt Will Allen blitz more?

Will Allen had a sweet blitz last week against the Raiders.. He is sooo fast off the corner when he blitzes.. so it begs the question, why isnt he called upon to blitz more? He gets to the QB in the blink of an eye. Obviously this isnt Madden and a high risk, high reward play like that cant be called too often but outside of Porter, he gets to the QB faster than anyone on our team

Mainly for the sake that he's our best, and arguably only good cover corner.

Yea Bell is also good at blitzing but i'd only blitz Will mybe once or twice a game since hes our only good cover corner.

Understandable statement, but Goodman has been playing as well as anyone (on the shorter routes) and Jason Allen is showing that he can be a valuable asset to this team.. But with Will Allen's insane accelaration, that could be a guaranteed sack + forced fumble (or deep bomb to Moss haha)

look at who would be covering the secondary if he were to blitz a lot...nuff said! he has to stay back and cover more than blitz until we get some more secondary talent

he did a good job, but that was all play design, i havent seen that CB blitz call on film yet... but he's our best cover CB for sure, blitz goodman if anything, hes great against the run and hitting people... but sometimes a liability in coverage

I was gonna say that Andre Goodman has been stepping up lately, but then I remembered how we made Seneca Wallace look like a pro bowler and let Jamarcus Russel make some nice throws on us....

Our secondary shows flashes at times, something we havent seen in a while, and although they are still getting burned in coverage on a regular basis, they (Goodman, JA, WA, Bell) have been making some AMAZING plays.

But to address the main question, yea, we just can't afford to send anyone on the blitz, we would get picked to shreds.

I would send Jason Allen in a few times. He's our biggest, most physical corner and he's a solid tackler as well.

Exactly.. We get good pressure from our Dline for the most part.. Blitzing a corner can come back to bite you bigtime. I would rather blitz a lineback to be honest.. sprinkled with the occasional CB blitz.

I also wanted to point out one more thing, I saw some tapes during the Nick Saban Era and one person that stood out in blitzing was Y. Bell..
Everytime he was on a safety blitz, he always got to the QB.
I think they should use both Bell and W. Allen...They are the fastest DB's on this team.

Agreed. Bell is a future pro-bowler and IMO our best defensive player.

I remember Bell wreaking Havoc on blitzes, but he is by no means one of our fastest DB's lol. I'm not saying he's slow either, he's not but there are guys that are faster than he is, they're just not as good.
