i remember when miami beat jacksonville ,in jacksonville,a couple years ago. garrad's accuracy was horrible.
while i agree about the recivers he had ,ijust don't see him being a good wco qbI actually drove up to Jville to watch that game. It was Garrard's worst game of the year and our defense played one hell of a game. All day pressure. We stuffed the run and kept Garrard under duress. I think Garrard had a washed up Torry Holt and Mike Sims Walker as his primary targets. That rookie CB tandemn shut down those WR's.
One thing I also remember . . . I was talking football with alot of Jaguars fans, and they ALL respected the job David Garrard was doing at QB. I would ask them y'all need a QB, they would laugh like "for what, Garrard just needs a few weapons, he isn't a bad QB, he can win us football games". When you look at it, the man really didn't have a great supporting cast at all.

while i respect your opion about garrard ,i see him as nothing more than a manger style qb in a run heavy system ,but i'm with you on drafting a qb.He fits the bill. He's fairly accurate, quick release and he's mobile. I mean as competition for Matt Moore I think it's a great pickup. As a long term option, meh . . .but I don't think that is why he's here unless he really has an unbelievable season.
We still need to draft a QB.
I doesnt help when Garrard flat out rejected the Dolphins last year with disrespect...
There is a lot of disrespect for Garard on here. The guy (WHEN HEALTHY) is a pretty good QB. He can move, has a good arm, pretty acccurate, there is not much to dislike about the guy. You have to remember he did not have weapons in Jacksonville. Recall Wilford who we made a TE? one year that was his best WR. He had Jones a QB that they made a WR. M Lewis that didnt do much of anything. A washed up T Holt, and 1 year he had Mike Simms walker that he made look like he was all world and now where is he?
While garrard is far from my 1st choice, Some of you need to respoect the man and stop making assumptions. The guy is a winner.
People, one year ago Garrard was an all-pro QB with 23TDs and a 90% QBR. He sat out 2011 due to injury.
In that same year Manning threw for 33TDs and had a 91% QBR. He sat out 2011 due to injury.
Garrard is 34 years old.
Manning is 35 years old.
Garrard had a slipped disk.
Manning had 4 neck operations.
Garrard signed for 1 year 3.5 mill.
Manning signed for 5 years 96 mill.
Garrard is a VERY good player and VERY capable of starting and running an NFL offence.
Notice i did not compare any stats to Dixon. He may offer some potential but has not proven anything.
Hence our got GM made a wise move to solidify the position in the short term.
