Why anyone really? I mean if you really think about it who really know why anyone does anything.
Sorry man I'm just in a comedic mood today,
Gaskin's has looked solid so far to be honest better than the other backs which is why he's getting snaps.

Is there really any doubt that in these past two games he has been the best all around back this team has? Howard has done nothing with his opportunities and they seem to trust Gaskins more as a pass catcher than anyone else in the backfield.

I think it has more to do with how we are attacking teams gameplan wise.
Howard’s been fine for the ask. Short yardage and goalline primarily.

I think the simplest, and obvious answer is he is performing better in practice. That is what matters to Flo. Not draft position, or contract $.

Since Breida hardly gets on the field my assumption is he earned it at practice prior to the season. Looks like the decision was justified as of now
I look at Gaskins frame and think this guy should get killed out there. He just looks too thin and slender to me to be a RB. That said he has really surprised me with some nifty runs and allusiveness.
I could see him being a real nice complement to a real bruiser back when we get one. Howard is doing his job getting some tough yards but I'd really like to get a 3 down type guy in the 2021 draft.
