This is not a this season or last season problem. It has been bad for almost a decade. Why? We have changed personnel. We have changed coaches. We have used journeyman and first rounders. We have used young ones and veterans. We have had regime changes and position coach changes. What is the constant?

Part of the problem is lack of talent. One of the biggest issues is terrible coaching and lack of player development. Also it doesn't help that Billy Lazor's offensive scheme was conceived by a deaf blind ******** monkey.

We need to draft better.. In every position.

We do have three first rounders that are pretty good.

This started long before Lazor

When all three are healthy, the line isn't that bad, minus the guaranteed Dallas Thomas screw ups. Problem lately is never having a healthy line, then having DT, then having awful backups.

I agree w the lack of talent thing but it has been a problem for 10 years and running - incidentally, we've yet to have good QB play during that span. Good QB play makes an O-Line look better than it is - some of this in recent years is on Tannehill. I'm sorry, but it is equally his fault - holding the ball too long, poor feel in the pocket, etc. The guys up front are awful in a couple spots - Guard and RT right now - and that doesn't help. But anyone just blaming the line for 10+ years (Tannehill, Henne, etc) is to turn a blind eye to the fact that the QB play has not been very good on a consistent basis.

Our line was pretty damn good under some of the Sparano era, best with Henne actually. I don't disagree that good QBs help, but let's not be revisionist.

Lazor hasn't been the only terrible coach the Dolphins have had in the past 15+ years. He has been one of worst though. Dolphins have had a string of terrible coaching staffs/ front offices since Johnson quit. Team has failed to draft elite players and failed to coach up the average to good players that they have had.

Pouncey is it.

Albert and James are good when they're around.

The rest needs to be melted. For that matter, Albert can go too. Hurt too much.

2 things, bad drafting and bad evaluation and inability to move on when it is blatantly obvious they suck! Martin and Thomas should have been cut waaaaaaaaayyyyy earlier. How the hell do you have the issues we had last year and address it with one 4th round pick? It just blows my mind!

I've said it for several drafts, we have to double down in the draft on OL and bring in a quality FA. The FA buys you time to develop your drafted players. It keeps the offense in rhythm while player development is happening.

This point would have been made if we could have landed Evan Mathis. Which brings about other issues that eventually domino into coaching and ownership. Nobody wants to come here because we don't have credibility and don't have Ability.

We have an opportunity to truly get this turned around this offseason. The next domino (hire) will be the most important. And will limit or expand our chances from that point forward.

I say the "next" domino because Tannenbaum's position is actually more important in the grander scheme but he is already dug in like a tick. He and Aponte are in charge. Our ONLY hope is that he can put together one of the best staff's and FO we've ever seen.'

I don't mind his high profile style IF it brings results. We have Suh and Tannehill. We must build successfully around these pieces. Quite frankly, we need a Super Bowl winning coach. I'm tired of trying to pick from the unproven and inexperienced coaches trying to find lightning in a bottle. We need an all-star coaching staff. People that are some of the best at their craft.

If we hire any first timers as HC, DC or OC then we are doomed again. It's not what these people have or have not achieved before they arrive here. It is the simple fact we do not have ANYONE in this franchise that can establish a culture of winning because none here HAVE.

We had better swing for the fences because EVERYTHING hinges on our next HC. And I mean EVERYTHING. He must possess the ability to win a Super Bowl unassisted by the executive decision makers. He and his staff will be the reason we win and lose.

I want guys with previous head coaching experience. People who respect the job and responsibilities of the HC so they can free him up to do his job.

I don't care about the names, but I need a staff with the credentials at their respective disciplines such as Sean Payton (HC), Jim Schwartz (DC) and Todd Haley (OC).

That's the caliber of the staff we need. These 3 positions are the key to everything. And they had better come in with the mentality they are going to win the Super Bowl in 4 years. I don't care if they do or don't, but my organization needs men who want to win Championships and aren't afraid to pursue it.

We need experience and credibility immediately. And a darn good draft and FA period. Because this team is going down fast. We need saviors.

The guard positions and back-up/swing tackles are "throwaway" positions for teams that; (a) can identify and develop average to above average talent without spending high picks or lots of money; (b) have excellent offensive coaching staffs that can scheme around any perceived offensive weakness; or (c) have a commanding presence at quarterback that can mask these deficiencies with savvy/instinctual decision-making which lifts the confidence of the entire offense; or (d) some combination of these traits. Do the Dolphins possess even one of these traits?
