Why hasn't this team find a gem defensive player in he draft since...

..JASON TAYLOR AND ZACH THOMAS ? Most of our defensive starters are FAs. Rashad Jones and Koa Misi only "home grown" defensive starters.


Even when we draft one we end up trading the or letting them go. I think this issue needs to be addressed. You can't keep paying ridiculous money for other people's players.
 
Because they're to busy drafting olinemen and wr's for Tanny.
 
Rashard Jones was a gem. 5th rounder and the best safety in the game

He is a gem but saying he's the best safety in the game is a stretch IMO... Best SS, that more debatable IMO...
 
We took a shot with Dion Jordan, but that is the ol' great athlete, not much a football player Ireland liked to go after.

Jones is a Gem...you can't deny he is not one of the top 5 safeties in the game and he is home grown...

You could say Vernon was on that track, but that is a situation were the market put a price that was worth far more then he should have been.

According to pff he was the 2nd best in the game. So I don't think its a stretch. But I certainly get that its up for debate
 
Because we haven't had THAT kind of an eye for D talent since JJ. He looked for production & speed first, "measureables" secondary.

According to PFF, our best unit on the team is the DBs, closely followed by our OL...

Your hard on for tannehill is reaching absurd levels. These lineman were drafted to fit a finesse style. We had the worst wr Corp in 2012 WR needed to be drafted. Stop with making everything come back to tannehill. He is not our problem
 
Because JJ isn't drafting the D.

I'd also at least somewhat assume our position specs have been off as well...

Project BIG under Tuna flopped. Project fail forward just failed (but Ginn has a nice family). Project dance and scamper (Philbin) was a farce.

So now we have Gase on the case.

You can argue Vontae Davis was a gem. Not a shut down corner but he's been solid since he got drafted
