I'm wondering why Saban decided to waive Holland but decided to keep Berlin. I realize that Holland has a chance to rejoin the team, but after Brock's dismal performance in NFLE, I was sure he'd be getting the boot. Any thoughts?

Well, probably they wanna check if Berlin made some progress. Plus, it seems Vick has a real shot making the practice squad.

It looks pretty set Culpepper/Harrington/Lemon are the 3 QB's we'll carry down the road. Berlin and Vick will battle for the PS spot imo.

edit: oh, and not mention that Berlin has a roster exemption. And we can try and bring Holland back later though

I think that Berlin will be on the PS, while Vick will make the 53 man roster. Mularkey will use him like he did Kordell Stewart and Randle El. They will find some way to use the physical talent that Vick bring to the team.

Berlin did play bad in NFLE but he had a couple good games, and played great in preseason last year, has a roster exemption, and everything that happend in NFLE wasnt his fault alone, the team was pretty bad to

thats a good question i think that only the phins coaching staff could answer. I was really happy with the signing of Holland, I watched one game early in the college season last year where he played Navy. He looked like a first round QB to me. The announcers even explained how he was getting attention as a potential first rounder....i guess he didnt end the season the way he started it....

The bolded part explains it all

He was playing NAVY even Berlin looked great in college against some bad teams

We needed to cut a player to get to back down to the limit and since Berlin has a roster exemption, releasing him wouldn't have mattered. We would have still needed to cut a 2nd player.

I think our top 3 qb spots are set. I think Holland is probably a candidate for the PS down the line.

I think vick is going to make the team as a wr/returner/special teams player

Holland, Berlin? What is this a football team or a map.

I see no way Vick makes the 53 man roster, he may be in the PS and if we dont resign Holland, Vick may double as developmental QB in PS and as WR/KR also in the PS...

hey...don't be dissin' Navy ..... 8-4 last year, one back of Notre Dame..

Go Navy!

I kind of figured it had something to do with marcus vick. All off-field issues aside, he was still a talented QB for VTech. He played against some top competition and had some really good games. They say he is too short to play in the NFL but as a back-up I think he can be like a change of pace QB with his scrambling ability, running boots, and he still has a great arm.

I would say because Saban knows more than we do about the players on "his" team.
