I know we drafted Henne. I'm always a supporter of competition, it only makes the player and eventuall the team stronger. I'm all for giving Beck a mulligan last year. After all most of the greats had pretty awful 1st years (Favre, Aikman), with of course the exception being Marino. Here's why I think Beck will do well. With the limited amount of time I saw him play last year, he used the tight ends well. And isn't Bill Parcells offense based on using the TE? Bavaro, Whitten. Beck's medium range accuracy, which is very good will serve him well in this Offense. We need to find him a decent TE, that is the problem. I don't think Martin is the answer. But, if given the chance this year, I think Bill will play to his strengths and use the TE in patterns even more. With the addition of Long, I believe our line will be stronger, and eventually we won't need to keep the TE back there for blocking purposes. I believe Beck will flourish in this offense if given the time. If it doesn't work, we still have Henne waiting in the wings.

Beck will get a fair shake I think... For those of you who think his days are numbered because of Henne, I'd say not so fast. While yeah, they may have drafted Henne to out the Beck experiment, I think it was more of a value pick. Henne fell into the laps of Dolphins brass, they would have been crazy not to select him at that spot.

Well, we got Fasano in the trade with Dallas and he was a 2nd round pick in 2006 (?) methinks. He must have pretty great potential to be drafted that high, but he has been stuck behind Whitten. Let's hope he learned a thing or two from the sidelines and maybe he can be that #1 TE we've been looking for.

As for Beck vs Henne vs McCown, I don't care who gets the job. I hope they are all great and we can pick and choose. So, Go McHenneck!!!!!!

Used the tight end well? :sidelol:

Our tight ends were David Martin and Justin Peele. :sidelol:

I guess you were really impressed with his 62.0 QB Rating

I never said we had good TE's. I said he looked to them, and threw passes their way. I never mentioned if they caught them : )

I think the competition will be open. But I also think they feel they know what they will get with Beck and that is why they drafted another QB. I thought, and was posted by another person, they would have taken Henne at 32 if Merling not fell to them. IMO they must feel really good about Henne if they targeted him that early.

I just think people need to take a step back and consider how lucky we were with the 2nd round picks. We got great value with both. Both guys could have gone in the first. You may say Henne wouldn't off but I gotta disagree, it really came down to position and a lot of luck. If it is true the targeted Henne at 32 that means BP thought he was 1st round talent, being 32 picks in the 1st round.

Hopefully we will see him take some snaps in the preseason...he might be better this year...but who knows?he also has an improved O Line to help him out.I think in this situation only time and lots of pratice will tell.

Beck's 2 leading receivers his senior season were the 2 TE's.... come to think BYU's WR corps then was "as good as" Miami's is.

Well other teams with similarqb situations passed so i still dont buy that we took Henne as a value pick. The history of the NFL shows that teams do not take qb's as value picks in the second round. Basically three reasons
1-not sold on current qb 2-Need a young qb to replace aging veteran or 3-Injury concern at Qb

Feel free to study NFL history and point out once where it was a value pick.

I am a true dolphin fan, i dont care whos behind center as long as we win ball games!! Thats what im all about

So, by that arguement, you'd have to say Beck wasn't a value pick, but the right pick, considering he was a 2nd round pick. And higher, from what I recall.

I'm not picking an arguement. ;) Whichever QB gives the Dolphins the best chance to win, I'll support.

When we drafted Beck last year that was our coaches choice to be the future Qb of this team it was not a value pick we needed a Qb and this year our Front Office felt the same about Chad Henne(does not mean Beck may not prove them wrong). No team in the the entire history of the NFL Draft have drafted a qb in the second just because they represented value.there are three reasons of which i will go over again. 1-not sold on current qb,2-have an aging qb or 3-injury concerns at qb.

As for how high a pick that only relative to the draft they are in. If Ginn had been in draft this year its fairly likely he might have dropped greatly. Both were second round picks so 40 or 57 really dont matter.

I think you can throw last years game tape into the garbage.

Going strickly on college tape. I have Beck over Henne.

Beck did more with less.

You think the drafting of Brohm means that GB is not sold on their QB?
