That was my frustration among the entire disaster of the second half. I'm surprised I don't see any references. Jordan was obliterated on those plays after New England gained first down at our 13. The Patriots smartly challenged him and Jordan wilted. Every play went in that direction. Jordan was shoved out of the way and then backed into the end zone, as if he were at Oregon and an opposition touchdown didn't really matter because the Ducks would respond with four scores.

Vernon was holding up fine. I have no idea why he had to take him out solely due to one questionable call. Admittedly, part of my annoyance is that a 6 point margin would have been markedly different for me than 10. I played Miami in the first half but also in the game.

To be fair, it was hardly Jordan alone. Wheeler and Jones joined him on that side. All three were buckled. It's scary to think how much we are paying those three guys as a tandem, when you watch those red zone plays on tape and they all but surrender physically.

I already erased the tape in disgust. Maybe Vernon was out there on the other side, although that makes no sense. All I know is I was scared to see #95 out there at right end when New England was sure to be running smack at us in a vital situation, and Jordan verified my fear.

At least we know why Jordan isn't being used on every down. He's a long way from that stage, although he did look great on that one deep sideline retreat against Gronkowski.

Never liked the pick as most know. I keep hearing about how awesome he is because he makes one play a game but last I checked a football game is made up of alot of plays.
He may get better, he may get healthy. Im not going to judge him too harshly as he is a rookie but number 3 pick in the draft should be more of an impact player. He may become that player and I may be dead wrong.
I do know that Mingo in 7 games of play has 4 sacks.

Jones is one of the most overrated Dolphins I have ever seen.

I agree with that. His energy level was considerably higher last year. That's what irritates me. I attended the Buffalo home finale last season and he was flying around. There were plenty of mistakes but at least he ran himself into an occasional big play. This year everything is at moderate speed.

At the end of last season there was consensus here that Reshad Jones was a vital piece and a must-sign, while Reggie Bush was expendable. I was going nuts because it made no sense. Fans have been brainwashed to believe that a 5th round pick will have an ongoing up arrow while a 2nd overall pick was nothing but a dancing machine who was costing us games. Other than exactly reversed, they had it perfectly correct.

I should emphasize that I'm not down on Dion Jordan, not to the point of calling it a poor pick. He was incompetent on those red zone plays yesterday and it helped cost me my bet of Dolphins +6.5. Throughout the second half I was thinking we might blow the game but the +6.5 should be safe. I know the math and the odds of losing by more than 6 were overwhelming. Only when New England got the huge break of the batted ball did I gulp and realize my wager was likely to lose. Still, it shouldn't be a guaranteed touchdown from the 13. I still don't understand why Jordan was in the game. He may have played 15 or 20 snaps total, from my general impression watching the game. I try to pay close attention to our linemen at all times. Suddenly Jordan was out there at right end and being toyed with on every play. He literally was shoved two yards deep into the end zone on the final Patriots touchdown play and ended up twisted sideways like a rag doll, albeit a tall lanky rag doll. Anybody who catches a replay of that play will see what I'm talking about.

I went the other way and made a money line bet on NE. I knew the refs would get involved and we would lose. I hate to bet against the fins but it was best hunch. Being money line it was a small return for the risk but still positive.

We have been terrible this year in goal to go situations on d. We gave up 10 of 11 going into game. When they moved it to the 13 I knew we were in trouble.

Everyone wants to replace Clemons. I would keep Clemons and replace Jones.

For a 3rd overall pick, Dion Jordan carries a lot of risk for us, since it's unclear if his wiry frame will allow him to be a full-time DE.

The 290 lb DEs (Mario Williams, JJ Watt, etc) are safer bets as full-time DEs.

It may turn out that Dion Jordan's ideal position is as a 3-4 OLB (and we don't run a 3-4 defense).
