Why Is Everybody Looking For the Diamond In the Rough at QB??????

I mean we are literally waiting for any piece of crap QB that can't make another team, or trading valuable draft picks for 3rd stringers, to just bring in here and become a productive starter. I'm not really convinced that another teams garbage will be our treasure. I think we need to just wait and draft a franchise QB next year in the first round. It doesn't have to be Matt Linert, as I think he will break the bank anyway, just a first round prospect that we need to bring in here and groom.


Please stop with the brilliant ideas at QB. As fans we shouldn't be looking to settle with somebody, we should be looking for great player for many years. What blows me away is there are folks who want to bring in any QB who has a good preseason game right away. I feel like if I lined up with the 5th stringers and completed a few passes I'd have a shot to be the Dolphins starter, per Finheaven anyway.
 
Everyone's got this Saban/Billichek thing that we need to find someone like he found Brady. I agree that we should just wait till next year. Give Felley some starts, see what he can do, or not do and then draft someone. There should be a few good prospects next year other than Leinart
 
two things have to happen to draft a franchise quarterback.

1) there has to be a franchise quarterback in the draft
2) you have to be in a position to draft the franchise qb

#3 you have to have the salary cap room to sign him!

Oh I forgot...
It's soooooooo freaking easy to get our savior at QB. There are so many guys out there for us to pick and choose it's such a good problem to have!!

Amen. And that way, we at least find out if Feeley's a worthwhile backup, or raise his trade value if he plays so so. Right now he has none because he has not proven anything yet. And no he hasn't proven he sucks for all you Gusenators (before you post that argument), because we haven't let him play in a familiar system for a year behind a competent line.
 
Wallace won't be cut. McPherson won't be cut. Schaub is Vick's backup, he won't be cut. Davey is not any good. Rosenfels and Berlin should be given a chance with the starters, if they don't play well, it will never be spoken of again. I would sign Tim Couch, only if we plan on cutting Feeley and putting Berlin on the practice squad. This team will not carry 4 quarterbacks.

Just because a QB is drafted in the 1st round doesn't mean he'll be a franchise player. Look at Ryan Leaf, Heath Schuler and Todd Maranovich.
 
Just have patience...

If all we were missing was a QB then you could talk...but we need more.

Davey? McPherson? at least pic QBs with some talent....I'd take Mike McMahon or Bradlee Van Pelt over any of the ones you all mention. And even then...its with a grain of salt.

I'm not saying it's easy. As a matter of fact it's probably the most unproven science in all of pro sports. Johnny Unitas was cut by the Steelers and never made their regular season roster. Len Dawson was also cut by Pitt. Todd Blackledge and Ken O'brien were drafter ahead of Marino for crying out loud. And than you have Kurt Warner and Tom Brady with Super Bowls. Yes Miami should continue to try and upgrade the QB position as well as other positions at all times but Davey has done nothing to make me feel he is a Brady or Warner or Unitas or Dawson>
 
For the most part I agree...I wouldn't want to give up any draft picks that's for sure...The guy I would like to have is Brees but that's just not gonna happen unless he becomes available at the end of this year...I would love to see us just draft a QB and I'm sure that's what we'll do next draft, but you can't really bank on getting one of the top 2 or 3 QB's in the draft because they will be at a premium as always....I think folks are just looking for a good young prospect anyway we can get one and I don't blame them...I don't see how it hurts to kick around the possibilities...but we should be realistic about it.
