Frank Murphy? He was the most impressive of the second tier guys to me. He is the one that put that major move on the Jax defender, and he had a great kick return i thought. He is definately shifty and the most explosive second tier guy I saw. He was with the Bucs I believe until week 4 last year when he got injured. I do know that he ran a kick back for a TD for the Bucs during preseason and everyone around here thought he was going to be great if for nothing else a return specialist. Anyway, pending the next 2-3 games I would be shocked if Murphy doesnt make this team if he performs the same the rest of the preseason....

He looked okay to me, but I actually thought Cliff Russel and Fred Gibson both looked better. Frank Murphy is not the kind of guy we should have at 5th reciever. 5th reciever should be someone to develop who is young. Murphy is pushing 30, while Gibson, Vick, and Russel are much younger, and in my opinion more talented.

1. Investments in receivers chris chambers, Marty booker, Wes Welker, Derek Hagan, devin arohmashadu and Fred Gibson.
2. Good performances against 2nd stringers does not neccesarilly translate into good performances vs top tier talent.
3. He was signed as a camp body and will most likely leave as one.
4. He has experience in practice , but has very limited game experience for a player of his age.
5. His upside is limited while his downside is not.
6. He's ugly.

Honestly..he has an uphill battle to which the best he can expect is to be deactivated on game day. Sounds like fun.

cliff russell looked the most impressive too me and it was all about what he did after the catch.

The reason no one is talking about him is fairly easy, we have two established WR's in Booker and Chambers. We have two pretty good young guys in Welker and Campbell. Then we have three promising prospects in Devin, Vick, and Hagan. Then you have the next tier which consists of guys like Murphy, Gibson, and Russell. Gibson if he puts it together mentally could be a force but he hasnt been anle to get his head in the game. Murphy is pushing 30 and has very little upside. There is no way we keep a guy like him over a Vick, Devin, or Hagan.

I agree he looked good, but he's been in the league for a while. He may be somewhat polished because of that, but there are guys that I would rather root for because I think it would be dissapointing for a veteran like him, who has done nothing in the league, to make it with all the talent we have, even if he can do some nice things himself I think other guys have more potential.
