We already know Tannehill and the offense will have a new OC. We know we are getting a new GM. If the new GM is forced to keep Philbin, and we struggle and miss the playoffs again, Philbin will probably be gone, and then again after next year, Tannehill will be getting yet another new OC to deal with. I think it's time to clean house. Let the new Gm pick his coach. and them build staff together.

Yep, Ross should go for the trifecta.

If we want a serious candidate we can't force philbin on him, or expect him to answer to Aponte.

Hire a guy to run the show and be responsible foe it all.

You are right OP, but it will not happen. Though it makes sense, I have not wasted time talking about a "new coach".

Why is Philbin so valuable to the team that Ross would make him part of the deal for the new GM? Ross should just let the new GM make that decision and I bet he will in the end.

Philbin has showed very little for the past 2 years that he deserves to ever have been or more-so to remain an NFL head coach. Why hamstring the new guy with him?

Ross picked Philbin, and probably doesn't want to admit that he was wrong.

Reality: we aren't getting Gus Malzahn.

I'm okay with allowing the GM to work with Philbin for a year. Worked very well for the Panthers. Might work very well here. I'd have preferred a clean sweep, but I can give this a chance.

if he promotes from within philbin should stay but if he hires a new gm then clean house. i just wish he stop following the jets moves
