There likely won't be a player that falls to #14 who is truly worthy of a top 15 selection. If you take away Quarterbacks these are the only players I feel are worthy of a first round pick:

Leonard Williams DT USC
Amari Cooper WR Alabama
Trae Waynes CB Michigan State
Vic Beasley DE Clemson
Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin
Kevin White WR West Virginia
Randy Gregory OLB Nebraska
Todd Gurley RB Georgia
DeVante Parker WR Louisville
Dante Fowler DE Florida
Danny Shelton NT Washington
Landon Collins SS Alabama
Brandon Scherff OG Iowa

Of that list, I think Gregory, Gurley, Shelton, and Collins have a fair chance of being there at #14.

1. I'm not going to call him Dion Jordan because he's a better football player, but the same issues remain with Gregory
2. Gurley is coming off an ACL and Miller is pretty good
3. The Dolphins got rid of Solia, so Shelton doesn't fit. There's two ways to beat a double team, with quickness or strength. Miami prefers quickness inside

So that pretty much leaves Miami with Landon Collins. RJ plays single high more than most realize, so that could work, but they re-signed Delmas.

If I'm Miami I would trade up for Cooper or move back to the bottom of the first/early 2nd and take whatever WR they like or Eric Kendricks.

*I also wanted to add that on MMQB they said the Seahawks only had 16 first round grades, and that was the reason they cited for trading for Jimmy Graham. I'd guess you can say Seattle is decent at drafting*

It is easier to say "trade up" or "trade down" than it is to do it.

Miami does not have the luxury of extra picks so trading up is a pretty big risk, and you have to find someone who wants #14 enough(and you for one don't want it)to make it worth your while to trade down.

I expect in the end they use #14, possibly 'reaching" slightly for a CB/LB/OL/WR.

Kevin Johnson and Marcus Peters, La'el Collins, TJ Clemmings, Ereck Flowers, Andrus Peat, Cam Erving and Perriman are all possibilities who fit that scenario. There will be a pile of interesting DT's available as well, not a need but good value at 14.

Maybe someone slide a little that we can grab like Parker or Waynes, or maybe someone slides that will allow Miami to move out of #14, one of the 3/4 ends perhaps.

I have a feeling Jacksonville/Oakland/Washington would all trade out for the right deal. It could get done for #14, the 4th round pick, and next years first, and Amari Cooper is worth it. Probably won't cost that much but that's what I would give up.

Well first off it would cost us way more than a 4th and next years 1st to move up to 10 spots. Second off, Cooper IMO is not worth trading up for. Stay at 14 and take Gurley.

Too many holes to trades a fourth and next year's first. As a matter of fact, don't trade next year's first period..

They went 9 spots up with a singe 2nd round pick two years ago. I think it's possible to get to 5 with a 4th and next year's 1st. I'm not sure I would do it, but it could be enough

You couldn't be more wrong, in 2012 Dallas went up from 14 to 6 for only a 2nd rounder. In 2013 Miami went up from 14 to 3 for only a 2nd rounder. It probably wouldn't even cost as much as I proposed.

This draft doesn't have the solidified top guys that most drafts have.

There's players on some boards that will be rated late 1st rnd picks, that on others will be rated top 10 picks. IMO at 14, there will be multiple players that the Miami front office have ranked in there top 10, and they should absolutely draft that player.

You build around elite players, that's how you win.

I think we should let the draft come to us. There's a chance someone very good will fall to us. It'd then be a matter of us taking that player at 14 or moving down for picks. Depending on who's there I'd want to move down. It's a deep draft from 15 to 100 so I'd love to come out of the draft with 3 of the top 100 instead of only 2 of the top 47 and then not drafting again till the 3rd day.

Ozzy rules!!

What "holes" does Miami have? They don't need more players, they need blue chip players. This team needs more difference makers. The only position that is a hole is guard, and I think Billy Turner can claim one of the jobs. It's not hard to find an average/below average bridge starter to fill the other guard spot. Miami signed Daryn Colledge last year on June 30th, and signed Samson Satele on August 2nd.

Leonard, Cooper, White, Gurley, and Gordon are in everyone's top 10 though.

The draft will go much differently than you envision. It always does and it always will. Someone will drop to us that makes good sense at #14. Parker, Waynes, Kendricks, maybe even Gordon. So Senor Tanneballs, you don't know who's getting picked any more than Mayock, McShay, Kiper or Paris Hilton.

I don't think that's remotely true.

Once you factor in team needs, scheme fits, personal preferences such as age, size, position, etc etc, a lot of those guys won't be on certain teams top 10.

Trading UP makes no sense to me, especially since we don't have a third rounder. I don't see Cooper helping us that much especially as we need an OG. Trade DOWN and get back our third rounder.

I agree with Tanneballs. At first blush, you'd think we can't afford to waste picks. That type of thinking hasn't worked in Miami. We've loaded up on middling players.

It's time to get a handful of difference makers. That's what Miami has been lacking. Let's go up and get Cooper, my preference. But, honestly, I think Kevin White is tough too if we can't get up for Cooper. He's competitive and attacks the ball. Ok, so now you squander an extra high pick to get either one. We'll get over it.

If the asking is too high, then trade down, and stock the middling talent, fine. But sooner or later, we need a cache of difference makers. Or else you don't win big. You need a balanced roster with impact guys in all the relevant units. That's what we haven't been doing.

Balance your roster among resources, both with draft picks and money and spread these resources across different positions. Then you have roster balance and flexibility. And find some areas where you can excel. An area where the opposition is left scratching their heads because they can't really penetrate a solution.
