With only 4 rbs on the roster , if am right, I think one or two more running backs will be added
by training camp. I think Miami should take a look at ZZ from south Dakota if he's still available.

Thinks there is more than 4 did you count Mike G. and they resigned James.

I don't think Thomas is on the roster, but Gillislee might be. Miami will likely add a rookie free agent or possibly a third tier veteran to compete in camp.

knowshon Moreno parhaps

Thomas shouldn't be on the roster anymore. I think that was a sign and done deal last year after Moreno went down.

Should be Miller, Ajayi, Williams, James and Gillislee (I wouldn't count on Mike making the roster or even being on the roster by camp)

So right now there is essentially four backs on the roster and I would bet one or even two more will be added by camp (Moreno, Gillislee and Thomas maybe or veteran depth)

How many would you like to see on the rosters OP? 6, 7, 17?

Lamar Miller, Damien Williams, Jay Ajayi, LaMichael James and Mike Gillislee

I see that as the actual depth chart in order right now. I think Williams starts ahead of Ajayi until he gets the playbook down and may take his place as 3rd down/goal line back late 2015 early 2016, if healthy.

Zach Zenner signed with the Chargers as a UDFA, though the dolphins did show interest pre-draft.

So far I think its

Miller
Williams
Ajayi
Gillesli (Sp?)
LaMichael James

Probably add 2-3 camp bodies

I expect the final roster to be 3 total. MAYBE 4 if he can be used as our primary PR/KR.

Miller
Williams
Ajayi

Gillesli just has not shown up since being drafted few years back.

James unless he shines on ST during camp is bound for PS (is he still eligible?)

Mike Gillislee is the forgotten Miami Dolphin. He has shown zilch in his 2 seasons here. Significant improvement is required quickly or he gets chopped. There are going to be lots of RBs available on the market. If Knowshon Moreno is in decent health, I'd welcome him back at the right price.

I doubt Moreno would sign with a team to be a camp body. Teams need at least 5 or 6 backs in camp because they run so many reps and you don't want to burn out your primary ball carriers. Plus it's not uncommon for one or two backs to get nicked up and have to miss some reps, so you need extra players to rotate into lineups. The top two backs on the depth chart, baring injury will likely be Miller and Ajayi. Williams, because of salary and ability to play special teams would get the nod over Moreno as a third back. I can't see Moreno signing to compete for a possible role as fourth running back that is inactive on Sunday.

Ajayi could actually be the third down back by the first game. Very good hands and was considered the best blocking RB in college. It will all come down to his film work and recognition but he very well could step right into that role.
