This year we did not make the playoffs for two reason:-

1-Pass Protection
2-Lack of running game

Both of these can be improved by simply upgrading the Offensive line. I dont understand why people are clamouring for Eric Ebron, CJ Mosely & Kelvin Benjamin etc.

The strength of the 1st round is Offensive Tackle. Our weakness is Offensive Tackle. Why overcomplicate things?

1 - Sign a Free Agent LT, Collins, Veldheer or Eugene Munroe
2 - Sign a Free Agent OT/OG - Rodger Saffold/Ebon Britton
3 - Draft one of Lewan/Martin/Kouandijio -

LT is set. Centre is set. Have the FA RT/OG and the 1st round pick compete with Garner, Dallas Thomas & Sam Brenner for the remaining 3 spots.

Lets not over complicate this. Resign the players who performed - Starks, Grimes & Chris Clemons and just fix the line.

Where is the objective evidence that the play at the all-important quarterback position was affected by the two variables mentioned?

I would tend to agree with you. When you look at all the different issues that were problematic in 2013, almost all of them come back to the O-line. I also agree that you will need a combination of FA's and draft to fix the issue.

Lets hope our new GM feels this is his number on priority as well.

Where is the objective evidence that the play at the all-important quarterback position was affected by the two variables mentioned?

Objective - (of a person or their judgement) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.

Facts
PFF Rankings
Clabo -0.8
Mckinnie -20.8

PFF rankings are not the be all and end all for judging a player, but also the 'objective' eye.......did you not see the games this year?????

Every coach and coordinator talks about the importance of winning the battles in the trenches. Every defensive coordinator discusses the importance of putting pressure on the QB. Elway did not win a Super Bowl until he had a running game. The fact that every coach and coordinator focuses on these concepts is enough. There is no need for object evidence.

In neither of the above posts is there any objective evidence that the quarterback play was affected by the offensive line or the running game in 2013.

We need a running back that has speed, size and power and falls forward after contact. An upgrade at running back has to happen. We'll go nowhere with Danial Thomas getting any carries. If we cut him he'd be out of football imo. Miller is a change of pace scatback type. Major need after fixing the o-line. After that we need a Zach Thomas type linebacker so that we can be great at stopping the run once again.

So you made this entire thread because I mentioned C.J. Mosley as a 1st round pick. You obviously did not watch Wheeler last year. What OT would you get in the 1st round at 19TH PICK!!?!?!

Seattle is in the superbowl without great qb performance. How? By running the ball and protecting their qb well enough to be competent. The same way SF and Bal got in the superbowl last year.

We get it, you don't like RT.

And you're basing that (bolded above) on what?

Everyone please stop responding to him. It's bad to feed the trolls.

The trolls are the people who can offer nothing to the topic regarding the team and instead resort to talking about the meaningless and uninteresting people here.

Not sure about great but Wilson's been in the league 2 years and have a rating of 100 and 101.2 in his career. 26 TDs in each of his first 2 seasons and only 19 INTs total. Granted he doesn't throw as much as Manning, Brady or Luck but if he had then his numbers would be even better.

The Seattle OL pass protection isn't that great. He was sacked 44 times. St. Louis got him 7 times earlier in the year. He only had 1 game when he wasn't sacked at all. The OL seems to be much better at run blocking. So when you combine Marshawn Lynch, that defense, and Russell Wilson being able to scramble on the run while still being able to pass, that's why he and them are really good.
