Sack Monster
We know that 2004 was among the worst offensive line the Dolphins have ever had. Rex Hadnot and Vernon Carey were seriously underutilized. McIntosh and McKinney didn't play well. Taylor Whitley, Wade Smith, and John St. Clair were laughably bad.
Move to 2005. Damion McIntosh and Seth McKinney both make major improvements - especially in run blocking. Rex Hadnot and Vernon Carey solidified the right side of the line very well. Jeno James continues to be consistent.
McIntosh's release isn't that bad because of what his cap number would've been. I think L.J. Shelton should be just as good - that would be a zero-sum game, which is fine. The rest of the line, having improved as much as they did - why tinker? Tom Ashworth isn't really that great, and moreover it seems unnecessary. Why move Hadnot and Carey again?
It just seems like sticking with McKinney, Hadnot, and Carey on the right side would be better than Hadnot, Carey, and Ashworth considering the cost.
