I believe we will make a huge splash in the free agent pool becuz players want to come to Miami for the location. Now that were good its a no brainer for some of these players.

1. No state income tax. that is a huge amount of money these players with big checks will be saving.
2. The weather who in the hell really wants to live in the snow?
3. The nightlife. I know none of us want our players out and about acting a fool but at the end of the day there regular humans who want to go out just like we do to a bar or dance club and have a good time.
4. The women look at #3
5. It is safe to say many of the top players are from or went to school in Florida.
6. We have some money to spend on talent that is worth it.
7. We have some positions that are wide open for the taken for the right talent.

:rolleyes2:

1) Good point. I wasn't aware that there was no state income tax but if so, that's awesome.
2) Many people below the age of 60 enjoy varying seasons throughout the year. I live in MO where we have 4 seasons!! Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. And it's nice.
3)While I would never argue with the likes of Wil Smith, one can "git jiggy with it" in any nightclub, in any state in the country. And there will be good looking women there.
4) I'll agree that there is some nice looking women in and around South Beach. But if you're implying that there's no good looking women elsewhere in this country you're insane. Matter of fact, I've seen some backwoods, in-bred looking women in and around the panhandle of Florida to be sure. I've even met a pig or 2 in South Beach itself! Shocking I know!
5) It is safe to say that this is a completely ridiculous statement. Sure, many athletes are from Florida. Many NFL players even. But last I checked Oklahoma and Texas produced a great many NFL players as well. Possibly more than Florida!
6) True
7) also true

All in all I would say that you logic is somewhat flawed :azmang:

I'll disagree with you about making a huge splash in free agency. History has shown that building teams through free agency is not effective, and Parcells/Ireland know this. I'll expect that we'll add several pieces in free agency, but they won't be the big name, flashy signings.

All of the reasons you give for Miami being a desired destination are true. But, they've always been true. The biggest reason why we have a better chance of landing free agents we desire is because of our record this year.

You forgot one of the most important factors.....many players want to go to a CONTENDER! That's right, I said it and I'll say it again.....CONTENDER! A word us Fins fans haven't been able to say for quite some time now, but friggin A we can say it now!

The first paragraph is on the mark. Parcells is smarter than that. Look at the teams that have tried to build primarily via free agency. We, I mean they, suck

this team will build through the draft. sure, we'll plug a few holes through FA, but I don't see "a big splash" this off season. Look for a lot of depth.

Miami has always had these things. Now that the team is on the rise, that will be the deciding factor rather then the T&A

Let not forget that we might attract players that wouldnt have come here in the past because of our record. We were 1-15 last year and not too many people would have wanted to come. Now we are a playoff team with a good organization and hungry players. That attracts players as well.

I agree winning attracts free agents. I don't think the location is a real factor to be honest. In fact I think working out and practicing in the heat is more of a complaint! (mind you they mostly use their indoor bubble). You try running drills with pads in 100 degree heat with 90% humidity in the summer, not my idea of fun.

I think money conquers everything ten fold. During the season they are so focused (or at least should be) -- the quality of facilities would probably play a bigger role. Nobody is really going take less money to play in Florida. They can use their money and travel anywhere they want in the offseason with a lot nicer beaches -> Hawaii, Bahamas, Bora Bora, etc.

What was the last real big name free agent signing we've had? Porter okay maybe. The dolphins are notorious for not pulling out the check book compared to a lot of other franchises. I like that approach -- you build the team from the ground on up with drafting and talent. Sure the right pieces here and there to fill holes -- but forget about the big names, huge salaries.

You know another thing which I think would be a huge factor is the atmosphere on gameday. I know we are getting better especially at the end of the season and in the playoffs. BUT Can you imagine as a player out there looking up and seeing huge blocks of orange empty seats. I thought that a couple times this year just being a fan in the stands, it's a bit depressing -- it sort of takes away from the experience, doesn't feel like the major stage, how an NFL stadium should feel. I swear it feels like you are at a baseball game sometimes in Dolphin Stadium in comparison to other places I've been.

Now compare that to the experience of 70k deafening loud fans in a atmosphere such as Seattle Qwest Field or Arrowhead in Kansas. So loud when you come out, the hairs on your neck are standing up from the chills. I think the players feed off the environment more than most people realize. They live for that -- they crave that sort of energy on Sunday!

I think that we will make one big splash this offseason but not over pay him probably in the top 10 in free agency...maybe a decent CB or someone on the line for either side of the ball. After that i think everything else will be for depth and most of the new starters will come from the draft. I feel he will look for a young lineman to play on the right side and maybe a CB since i felt the were too inconsistent.

Biggest Reason? PARCELLS PARCELLS PARCELLS! playing for a proven winner and Miami is heading in the right direction fast.

i think we will get some mid tier fa to fill glaring needs and up grade the bottom of our roster then we can draft bpa

I like the under the radar FA's that nobody knows alot about but either provide depth or are a decent upgrade

Larry Chester comes to mind

hopefully we can mine 2 or 3 nuggets, resign Carey and Bell and kick *** in the draft
