I dont understand this group. Is it just a scapegoat for your anger today?

The players did not execute today - but that is not b/c the entire team, that everyone was praising last week is irelands "bums"

Some say bad coaching - well that was Ross's hire, and i still think the coaches are ok, minus sherman. (the one guy i think could go, really has not done well at all)

We have finally gotten some really nice pieces on offense and defense. Mind you, these are the types of guys Philbin asked for, to fit his game, and it is working, but now we need to solidify the offensive trenches. IF you remember GB, then you'll remember that the Line sucked the first couple years of A. Rodgers, but after they finally got some protection - super bowl. Philbin builds outisde-in, everyone was always so angry and always bitching when parcells wanted to build inside-out. How is this Ireland's fault? it takes about 3 years to build a team in the coaches mold/philosophy.

We are basically a few OL and one LB away from having a very solid team talent-wise: add in a shifty RB, and its that much better. Since ireland has implemented Philbin's style we've gotten (or developed)

2 Very good CB's, until one of them got hurt, and even so Carroll is solid.

A great sleeper tight end with tons of heart and run after the catch ability

A FRANCHISE QUARTER BACK

a solid 3-4 WR corps - yeah they had a bad game today - so what? does megatron and Detroits whole offense "suck" b/c they have not been executing?

we have a very good D-Line, we just need ONE MORE LB to sure up our running defense. Passing D is good. Hell, the bills didnt do anything today anyway - we just SUCKED on offense due to mostly a bad line and bad weather.

The biggest screw up of this season was signing wheeler - he has been a huge bust. As far as the O-Line - you dont just lose a perennial pro-bowl left tackle and easily recover, plus ireland concentrated on other areas - next season we will have some room to bring in some OL talent via FA and the draft, and concentrate on it more at once. Also, you cannot fault ireland with the Long, or Bush losses - i firmly believe philbin did not want them here. One screw up is not the end of the world.

I guess my conclusion is simply this: We are LITERALLY 1 LB, a few OL, and maybe a FB away from having a completly, 100% solid football team - FINALLY, after years of "blowing it up trying again, blowing it up trying again, half blowing it up, half trying again etc etc etc" - FINALLY, FINALLY, we are a few players away, and people want to bring in a GM, who may or may not like tanney, may or may not like philbin etc??? why would we do that again? we either strike GOLD with some new GM, or more likely, we wait another 3-5 years just to SEE if MAYBE this one pans out - no, im sorry ONE MORE YEAR of PHILBIN/IRELAND/TANNEY - they get that - like everyone else does in this league. Just calm down.

I admit i was crazy today earlier too - who wouldnt be after that disgusting game? but try to be objective here - losing to Tampa after the media frenzy has a ton to do with our position right now with the playoff picture, and even the defending SB champs are in the same position this year.

A few OL? try 4...

then did you see how buffalos DL was getting pressure? it would be nice to see our guys sack someone 7 times...

Ireland has been here since 08. This was supposed to be his make or break season. Why does he deserve another year if they don't make the playoffs? This isn't his 3rd year here. People always say Parcells was in charge, but if that's the case, Ireland doesn't deserve any credit for the good players brought here before 2010.

Almost 6 years and the team still can't compete for the division. The O-line is still a huge mess.

This WRETCHED OL he constructed to protect his franchise QB is directly responsible for at least 4 losses on the season. With even a half-way decent OL, this team likely takes the division.

I've said all along that if the Dolphins miss the playoffs, Ireland should go. Seeing the way the OL and running game contributed to this blowout loss with the playoffs on the line, Ireland is mostly responsible. He has had many years to fix this OL and its the worst it has ever been.

To be honest, I don't really have much confidence in this entire regime when it comes to building a championship caliber team, but I will give Philbin a reprieve mostly because I want Tannehill to have stability. If we miss the playoffs, I thinkt he best route would be to can Ireland and promote Gaine for a 1 year trial with Philbin. And if it fails next year, get a whole new regime in here.

You're in fantasy land. Ireland has done a **** job, Tanny may be our franchise guy but if Ireland wasn't basically forced to take him, he would've gone elsewhere and we would be stuck with some bum playing quarterback, maybe even geno smith. 4 new o lineman, a new running back, another TE, defensive tackles, our linebackers signed by Ireland this offseason are trash and a downgrade even from the garbage last year, the giant deal for Jones who has gone MIA. The list goes on, anyone who doesn't see this through the wins and losses are blind. 8-7 is NOTHING. Big deal. Take off the aqua colored glasses and look at this from an outsiders view, I would laugh at this team if I wasn't a fan. One notch above the jets and bills if that.

whether its after this season or next that ireland is fired, lets see if he ever gets another GM job in the nfl.

Excellent. Too bad most fans here don't think this way.

If you're going to fire Ireland then they need to fire his entire staff. If not, then the entire staff has 1 year to get this team fixed. At a minimum, Mike Sherman, Zac Taylor, Jeff Nixon and Jim Turner need to go.

His problem is he just doesn't understand how to construct a team. He took a decent lb core, blew it up and threw money at guys who are worse. He did that without even thinking about addressing our real problem, the OL. For as long as he's been here, he's tried to get the line right and can't. Ya he might hit on a few good players here and there, but once one unit gets built up, the guy has neglected other units and its a whack a mole game he's playing. I could go on for days but I'll leave you with this nugget from Mike Silver regarding how Ireland is viewed by his peers (not us Fireland folk that have no clue!)

"Jeff Ireland already has the reputation in league circles for being a guy who 'we can't believe he still has his job.' One NFL owner on Ireland's continued employment, 'the craziest thing I've seen in the NFL, more absurd than Matt Millen.'"

- Mike Silver

Phillip Merling
Chad Henne
Pat White
Sean Smith
Koa Misi
Daniel Thomas
Jonathan Martin

Thats why he should be fired.

Always a big fan of the "dont change anything!" crowd. It never ceases to amuse me that they havent figured out: when you change nothing, nothing actually changes. Should be self-explanatory, yet i still see posts expressing shock at why we keep losing.

hahaa, i LOVE finheaven. too funny man, always comical.

A few years back -hell, maybe like 2 - all i heard from you people all the time was "CORN FED LINEMAN" "HA, HE"LL DRAFT A CORNFED NExT year " "WASTING PICKS ON CORNFED LINEMAN" "TOO SLOW, THIS AINT THE 80s"

"Get some TEs IN HERE" "GET PASSING PIECES" blah blah blah

and yeah im sure about the franchise quarter back - get sacked the most of any dolphins qb since 1969 and still be putting up solid numbers compared to other QBs - anyone saying Tanne is the problem or "sucks" warrants no further consideration from anyone who knows football.

now its - "this guy couldnt even get the lineman in here"

Ummm, isnt' that sorta the point? He put in MANY RESOURCES to build the OL and its STILL HOT GARBAGE. Multiple high draft picks, high priced FAs, and it all amounted to a record-breaking sack total and a media ****storm.

Last i checked sean smith was starting for a very good football team, Koa misi - not sure whats wrong with him - Daniel Thomas, middling RB, to complement Reggie Bush - who ireland brought in, and philbin kicked out. Pat white - already said parcells pick - Henne - BONIFIED parcells pick, 100 percent. Merling? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL our d-line is VERY VERY good, thats like saying the pats suck at their job because they brought in some scrub WR a few years ago while still bringing in welker, moss, et all. PLEASE.
