Only Miami would give a defensive tackle these numbers.

2016 cap number: 12.6M
2017 cap number: 19.1M
2018 cap number: 26.1M
2019 cap number: 28.1M
2020 cap number: 22.375M

If cut in:
2016, 53M in dead money
2017, 41M in dead money
2018, 22M in dead money
2019, 13M in dead money
2020, 4M in dead money

Basically uncuttable until he is well into his Century Village retirement age down here. Tannebaum at his best.

Havent beat the horse enough huh? Yes its a lot but its just numbers. He'll probably be restructured again before 2018 cap hit, thats just what teams do. You're complaining about paying suh 19 million a year or whatever his price was when guys like vernon and malik jackson are going to pull in contracts of 15/16 million and have never even made a pro bowl/all pro unlike suh. Suh is well on his way to becomig a hall of famer. Last year was the worst of his career and he was still a top 5 dt in the league.

Totally agree, if OV and Malik Jackson are worth $15m a year Suh is worth $25m. Suh is a bargain in comparison.

as much as i agree w op after seeing contracts the last few days and more to come it gives a little more comfort on our market timing for that "monster" deal

His initial contract was built to be restructured, why do you think he easily agreed after 1 year? It's good for him too.

I'm pretty sure it was written in his contract that Miami had final say in whether to restructure, so he had no choice

He agreed because all it does is give him more guaranteed money. Restructure doesnt truly hurt a player at all. Now he will have two seasons where he makes 25 million against the cap and by the time its done will have three

This site is becoming unbearable.

Yeah, let's keep complaining about our possibly lone, elite player's contract.

You people...

Lmfao! What makes you think based off last year that Suh is a 25 million $ a year difference maker. He already proved that he doesn't make that much of difference on a defense.

I guess you remember how Suh made our entire defense elite. He was part of one of the worst dolphin defenses ever. Elitely bad

Tannenbaum doin' his thing for us like he did for the Jests. Live drink and be merry, for tomorrow we will be in cap hell.

this contract is exactly why the offseason has played out the way it has. They were not going to give OV a contract that had to be restructured after year 1 or overpay for him 3 years from now. Look at Mario Williams, Maxwell and Kiko's deals.....all short term, some with one-year outs. This offseason's goals are to attempt to change over the roster, while being careful on salaries. Yes the Suh deal was a mistake, not saying he is, but the cap ramifications are just outrageous. Sprinkle in potentially removing older players with large cap hits with a coaching staff that hopefully will flourish, Miami is trying to gain back some of their spending capabilities. I keep saying this, however, will say it again. Miami must achieve elite status from Tannehill because that is a salary cap relief too. If he plays elite, it's amazing how your needs decrease for other players and the amount you have to spend decreases
