-Ravens rely heavily on their running game. They're top two backs average less than 4 yards a carry. Not very impressive.
-Stop the run, and their offense sputters. Easier said than done. However, unlike last game we will have a healthy Jason Ferguson and Soliai back. Our rush defense is an impressive and underrated 10th in the league.
-Double cover Flacco's favorite target on passing downs, Derrick Mason.
-Keep throwing new wildcat wrinkles to keep that aggressive defense overpursuing.
-GO DEEP WITH TED GINN! Easier said than done, I know. Samari Rolle has not practiced all week. This would leave them with a 3rd and 4th string CBS. (Chris McAlister is on IR)
-Fabian Washington, their 3rd CB is also injured and might not go. Go Deep! Test those corners... (Check how Colts beat/destroyed the Ravens earlier in the year)
-Run more to the right side of the Ravens defense. It's their "weaker" side if you could say that.
-Allow Porter to blitz heavily on Gaither. Gaither, a good LT, had his worst game against Miami.
-Despite what many think, I look for Chad Pennington to have a good day. He will challenge those corners.
-Look for Anthony Fasano when he's matched up with Strong Safety Jim Leonhard. Fasano will overpower him.

I think the Dolphins, despite getting no love, can beat the Ravens. "Experts" fail to realize that our top two NTs were out. Without a nosetackle in a 3-4 scheme, everything crumbles. They may have one of the most complex defensive schemes, but remember, Miami challenges this by having one of the most complex offensive schemes (Mutliple formations, Wildcat wrinkles, all receivers, tight ends, backs can catch).
And for the Ravens offense, they have the most vanilla offense. They rush almost 40 times a game. And when they pass, look for Derrick Mason to be on the receiving end. Very Simple.

-They have TWELVE impactful players on the injured list. (11-limited practice, 1-did not practice- Samari Rolle)

-Playoff experience.. Pennington has it, plus he's playing at home in front of an electrifying crowd. Flacco, playing as a rookie in his first playoff game. This crowd will be a lot different than what he has seen playing at Delaware.

Not a bad list. However, in the first game against Baltimore, Flacco tore the defense up. Had his way all day. He wasn't anything spectacular, but receivers were getting open constantly. He had an extremely high completion % that game. We need a better pass rush and a more complex defensive scheme this time.

It's simple: Cleo Lemon beat this exact same defense LAST YEAR. Chad Pennington is ten times the QB that Cleo Lemon is. We just have to play smart football for 60 minutes.

We need to make Flacco beat us and keep our mistakes to a minimum as we did all year. Can't settle for fg's in the redzone, etc..

While Pennington is 1000x better, they both have different skill sets. Lemon is 10x more mobile and can throw those 30-35 yard digs and outs on a needle.
But Lemon is not that great at going through his reads, While Penny is, and he is 10000x more experienced and smarter than lemon

Penny can dissect and destroy a defense, while Lemon beat it with his athletic ability and stronger arm.

You really can't use that Logic for this QB beat them, so the other one should

they were missing basically all of their CBs last year. they started Corey Ivy and Willie Gaston in that game. Trevor Prace wasn't playing either. make no mistake about it, this year's Ravens D is a lot better.

Well I know it is not last year, and the Dolphins and Ravens are also a lot different and better from our first game this year, but you listen to the Raven's fans and they think their defense is unbeatable. I look at how the Colts and Steelers beat the Ravens and I think we can do the same thing if we just stay focused. We didn't have many things go right in that first game, especially the pass Chad threw that Suggs ran back. I feel good about our chaces this time.

I def agree, lets just hope we pull it out or sign Lemon before the game =)

On defense we need to pressure Flacco into quick decisions and bring the Safties up for run support.

On offense we need to throw, throw and throw. When we do run make it out of SG and run Draws and Sweeps. This is one of the top run defenses in the league and we can soften them up with playaction throws. This will allow us when we do run to gain bigger chunks of yardage with less carries.

Just so you know .. at that time, every QB tore our defense up, I'm gonna be honest, our coverage was awfiul at best. But now we're really up there, we've gotten more aggressive and our DB's are making way more plays on the ball now

Have you watched the Ravens, or are you just looking at numbers? Running the ball doesn't automatically make a team "vanilla". This "vanilla" offense scored 40 more points than your "complex" one.

Flacco, playing as a rookie in his first playoff game. This crowd will be a lot different than what he has seen playing at Delaware.

I can't picture Sunday's crowd being as extreme as Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Cleveland were. Flacco getting rattled would be more of a surprise to me than the 'Fins winning the game.

run, run, run, and run.. then when your done running.. run some more.. throw short quick passes to the tight ends and continue to pound the ball.. do not go away from the run.. if you must throw.. you got to throw the quick short routes early and force the safeties to creep up to the line of scrimmage.. once you have the safeties cheating up and focusing on the run.. try to hit them deep a copule times.. but save it until the third quarter.. i dont know why.. but i see this as the way to go against this team.. the Ravens are no slouches.. they beat us quite handily in the regular season.. i really think we will need to make a commitment to running the ball and relying on Chad to play efficient and error free small ball. keep everything in front of those dangerous safeties.. open up the playaction and wildcat(which the Ravens destroyed the fiorst time around)...

So you think we should run at the team that defends the run the best, so then we can pass on 2nd/3rd and long situations. I guess going three and out all the time will wear out their offense from being on the field all game is a different strategy.

I'd rather attack the weakness of their defense which is the secondary and when we have success they will be forced to drop back their LB's more and open up some run lanes.
