I had the pleasure, like I'm sure most of you did, of watching the Jets game today. And watching Dirty Sanchez choke big time once again. For all of you hardcore bloggers, I think the term "Epic Fail" would fit perfectly here. Just had to get that out of the way because it is rare that i get so much satisfaction watching a Jets game.
Another reason I brought that up is because I noticed something else that game. Sanchez was forcing a lot of throws to Braylon Edwards. And more than a couple of those were picked off. Now there are plenty of positives for having a No. 1 to throw to. But watching that game today showed me a big negative about it. Sometimes young QB's will force bad throws like that because he trusts his guy to come down with it. If you look at some of the great QB's in the league right now. The Mannings, Brees, Brady, Big Ben etc. They all are very good at spreading the ball around to many different receivers. Sure they have have one receiver that is a bit above the rest, but for the most part they dont go to them that much more than the others.
All I'm trying to say is that we should let Henne get used to throwing to a bunch of different receivers before going out and getting him the big, fast No. 1 guy. The last thing I want is to have our confident young gun pulling a Sanchez and forcing throws to a main guy and getting picked instead of scanning the field for the open receiver. We have our possession guys, we have our slot guy, and yes, we have our deep threat as well. I believe we have all the tools right now, as soon as Fasano steps up, to be a great offense. Now a great receiver wouldn't hurt, but lets wait a year before we use a 1st rounder on a guy like that.
What do yall think?
